20

Australian Geographic have a Black Friday Sale this weekend - I have been in the market for a Netatmo weather station (more for its anemometer) which are never on sale for a number of weeks. It's been impossible to find it at cheaper than retail until this weekend. To see all their Black Friday deals head to this link - https://shop.australiangeographic.com.au/campaigns/black-fri…

The Base unit weather station - https://shop.australiangeographic.com.au/netatmo-urban-weath… (if you want the other add ons then buy them separately do not add them from this page) - $210 retails $300
The rain gauge - https://shop.australiangeographic.com.au/netatmo-rain-gauge.… $105 instead of $150
The ultra cool - ultrasonic anemometer (wind speed thingo) - $140 instead of $200 https://shop.australiangeographic.com.au/netatmo-wind-gauge.…

The store also has a 5% cashback deal from Cashrewards so if you're a Cashrewards member you can grab some dollars back.

Unfortunately the mounting bracket is NOT on sale :(

There are also other Netatmo products on sale like their cameras but I have no idea if they are deals or not.

My goal is to get a couple engineers to play with the ultrasonic transducer in the anemometer to increase its recording frequency (currently records winds at 6 second intervals and reports back to the cloud every 5 minutes)

Oh if on the off chance you have an Australian Geographic mag subscription you get a further 10% off.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2018

I was going to get a Netatmo weather setup, however the reviews aren't great. Most complaints about battery life

    https://au.trustpilot.com/review/netatmo.com

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Netatmo-Weather-Station-Wireless-Co…

Instead I went for a Pantech off eBay which seems to have good support on Whirlpool (and much, much cheaper)

    • Yikes those reviews are damning. For me personally it's all about reverse engineering this thing's ultrasonic anemometer. Ultrasonics cost thousands to het one for 200 bucks or less is incredible. But bugger me those reviews on the station from home users are really bad.

    • Wow those Pantechs looks pretty good. Never heard of them before. I just want something half decent to put into WeatherUnderground.

      • Weather underground is killing off it's API… Which is a major bummer!

        Hoping another service comes along…

        • So will that affect me seeing my station on the WUnderground App or webpage?

The Netatmo weather station system is just rubbish, I had the misfortune to go down this path and had nothing but problems. The design of the products is not good and their support is even worse. Even little things like their supplied batteries leaking in the rain gauge leads to the PCB being destroyed beyond repair, they should have taken this into account in their design. You can't get parts if even a little part is damaged. The sensors are not accurate and their support makes changes on their server if you complain about the temperature being out by having the data altered (ie if you complain the temperature is out by 4 degrees they just add this offset to your data when it's uploaded.

You get what you pay for and the Netatmo is a great idea, it's easy to use but it's also rubbish which is a shame.
