The Ctek MXS5.0 Smart Battery Charger can be used to charge appliances in your car, boat or 4x4 vehicle. The charger can charge 12V lead-acid batteries and AGM batteries. Using an 8-step fully automatic charging cycle, the charger is able to accurately diagnose the status of the battery and features automatic de-sulphation and reconditioning for damaged batteries, with the aim of extending battery life.

    What is the comfort connector? I just don't get it.

    Something about permanent installation?
    Something about LEDs (who cares.. you'd need to run this thing overnight surely)

      It is a connector that you permanently install on your battery and then run a simple 2 pin plug elsewhere do you can just pull up and plug in without popping bonnet and connecting jumper leads. The connector has LEDs to show you it is connected and charging. I use it to connect to my motorcycle battery and ran the cable out through the tail so I don't have to pull my bike to pieces to plug it in and charge.

  Is this the product I need for a car that gets used rarely (often not used for 3-4 weeks at a time), and when it does get used, does very short drives?

  We had a flat battery in it recently, no surprise.

    You can use it for that but it is designed for more.

    At this price, it doesn't matter. I'd just use it.

    You're thinking of a trickle charger.

  The 15 amp Victron is $119
  Previous charger was an MXS 7.0, IMHO the Victron is a better charger. You will need to buy some alligator clips tho'
