Hey,
I wanted to ask a question because I'm in the market for a power bank to charge my phone. One Amazon trusted brands like Xiaomi and Anker generally sell power banks with 10000-20000mAh.
However when I go to ebay I see products like the link below that SAY they hold 10 times more for the same price.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Portable-Slim-100000mAh-Powerban…
What's going on? Do the no brand ebay brands use old technology which holds more but good brands sacrifice battery for faster charging technology? Are ebay sellers just grossly overstating their rating by up to 10 times? Would love to hear from someone who has some insight.
100000% fake! If they can fit something that big in such a small capacity then why are there no phones with it? At that size it's not going to exceed 10,000mAh and even then you'd be incredibly lucky as it's probably going to be <8000 or even <5000.
The other issue is reliability and protection. How reliable are the battery cells? Are they recycled? They'll probably fail to hold charge, discharge quickly and charge very slowly. The other risk is that the circuit boards inside are basic and have little to no protection against short circuits, overload, overcharging etc etc. Is it worth plugging in your expensive phone to save a few bucks on a power bank? Nope.
Go for a brand like Xiaomi where there is a proven track record of quality and reliability. For not much more many of them include Quick Charge, USB-C, USB-PD and other fast charge tech. As you can see here reliable brands including Xiaomi are on sale frequently.
