Buy 1 Menstrual Cup Get 1 50% off (RRP $55 for 1, $82.50 for 2) + Shipping @ Lunette

180

Once you try these you can't go back to using disposal pads or tampons (after you get past the learning curve which is a bit steep but totally worth it!). Don't have to feel like you're wearing a nappy anymore plus its great when you exercise.

Better for you health, no more exposure to bleached cotton, harsh chemicals and risk of TSS.

Also great for the environment as disposal sanitary products create heaps of landfill.

Best of all…great way to save $$$$$$$

    Not ovary happy about this…

  • In all seriousness, anyone who has tried one of these care to comment how it compares to other methods?

    • +13

They are sooo much better - as long as you get the right size. Also - you need to be comfortable with your body - maybe not ideal for young girls just starting out. I would probably recommend tampax, just for a short time, to help them get used to the idea, and then move onto these. Also important to have one that fits properly, different for whether you've had kids, or large boned etc. Once you have one that fits properly and are comfortable with your body, it is by far the best method. They last for years, comfortable, feels cleaner, you can swim, jump on trampoline etc. Not sure how this particular deal rates, bought mine for $25 a few years ago - so this still seems pretty expensive, but that might be the market now.

      • How does one know what's their appropriate size without having tried one (or a few) on?

        • There are quite a lot of YouTube videos and online forums discussing sizing. Worth a Google. I'm still getting used to using mine a few cycles in. It's definitely a learning curve but ultimately I'd say it's worth it.

These guys made a quiz to help find the right cup size. The questions are tailored to those who haven’t ever used them before, as well as those who have but still trying to find the right one. I took the quiz a few times, to see if I changed just one of my answers at a time, how the recommendation changed. One type was recommended more times than any other. And I also compared the cup properties in the comparison chart. It’s quite an informative website on menstrual cups and a good starting place.

Also second YouTube reviews. Preciousstarpads has lots of informative videos.

My wife changed over to these about 12 months ago and thinks they are great, says she will never go back to "the old way". She has converted plenty of her girlfriends too.

The downside to the cups is you might need to try a few before you find the right one for you. But overall it's worth going through that process (can be a little expensive in the beginning). On youtube there is a girl preciousstarpads who has very informative videos on menstrual cups and does have videos on choosing the right one for you. I have tried a cheaper and popular one (MeLuna I think around the $25 mark) but it was too soft for me..my body literally expelled it haha. There's other brands including the Australian JuJu brand but I have not tried it. Received the email from Lunette and thought would be good to increase awareness of cups in general.

As someone who has yet to be converted, this sounds a bit… :\ Hopefully it didn't make a mess??

Really… interesting how the comments section has become a cesspit.

It happened pretty instantaneously so it didn't make a mess. Ive only tried 2 so I cant give too much info on other brands but I did watch quite a few videos before settling on trying the Lunette. Usually they came in 2 different sizes a smaller one and a larger one. They usually recommend the larger size for people who have had kids or heavier flow. I went for the larger size due to my heavy period. I think the firmness of the Lunette is quite good. Worked for me. Id suggest watching a couple of videos and reading up on different cups..plenty of reading material out there. Also depends on the height of your cervix. There are different cups to suit diff people. I had to cut off the grip/tip of the cup as it poked me. The cup has seriously changed my life. Periods on holidays aren't such a nightmare anymore and going to bed without worrying about leaking is the best thing ever.

      • You really know your cups.

      • Since you have gone through a few, can you please share your other experiences too?
Which is one is the harder one and which one is the best for you?
Also, if there is any way to test if the user needs a softer one or a harder one?
        Thank you in advance.

        • +1

See my comment above :) The Lunette size 1 is meant to be a little but softer than the Lunette 2 but I dont think the Lunette 1 is as soft as the MeLuna I tried.

      • I still can't work out how they work. Skinny part up seems silly, and like a cup…well I have enough trouble carrying a full glass of fruit juice, in my hand.

        • It sits within the canal cup side up and then fills up with blood. It doesn't fall out.

    • I've been using a cup for a few years now and I love it. I tried a juju cup first and now use a ruby cup. I recommend the ruby cup over the juju cup. Lunette would probably also suit me but it's not something you have to buy often.

Less messy than other options, don't have to empty it out as often as you change a pad/tampon. I found tampons didn't really work for me anyway. It's much better smell wise. Also it's so good for sports as there is no string or wet pad sitting under you. And it's fantastic for holidays as it's just one small item rather than having a box of pads/tampons.

Are these cups any good for making bloody mary's?

    • Unfunny post of 2018

      • So according to you, menstrual jokes aren't funny… period

  • This is bleeding edge technology.

If buying 2 seems like a big commitment to anyone starting out, you can get the Organicup from Great Earth stores for $38. They also have a 90 day satisfaction guarantee so nothing to lose.

I use Rubycup, every cup you buy they donate one to a girl in need. I really like the cup as well so it's a win win.

  • this would not work if you are a virgin without breaking the hymen?
