      wow 720p 120fps ?

      buttery slow-mo ~ yum yum!

      • +1

But can you read the plate at 720p?

        • +1

1080p needed and 60p actually makes reading plates worse.

      Huh?

How do you know if someone is a normal driver?

    • how would you know if you're driving next to a dodgy driver that is going to side swipe you and then claim you merged into them?

      • Or the one where they reverse into you coming out of the parking lot

    • +2

Why would a normal driver need insurance?

  • Seems like a good unit and price but its the damn installation that is always worrying…

  • Bit off subject but can you get Dashcams that display the speed you should be doing?I really need this so i can react accordingly when i see a Cop.

    • Yes some higher models have GPS speed monitoring for helping a dispute.

      • Thanks Click_It but what i mean is so i can look at the GPS and see what speed i should be doing.Preferably in large writing.

        • +1

Oh right, in that case I'm not sure. You could get just a satnav which has those map features built in or a paid mobile phone app that supports it. Unsure if there is a dashcam with it all built in because dashcams are usually mounted up high out of normal viewing.

          • @Click_It: There are models out there that have a separate GPS logger mount on windscreen.

Bear in mind that legally these GPS things have no standing most of the time.

    • If you are wanting consistently accurate speed display, then something that plugs into the OBD port on your car will be better.
GPS is accurate for consistent speed, but less so in city traffic, around high buildings, tunnels and occasionally when driving under trees.

The OBD display comes from the car computer, so it should match what your speedometer shows.
Word to the wise, the reflective windscreen ones are all but useless in daylight, getting a direct display unit will fare better
I use a reflective one, and it's great at night, don't need to look down at the dashboard. Might get the direct display unit as a Xmas present to me.

I was expecting you to link this video that just hit my subbox https://youtu.be/aWEVunVLYUg (Viewer discretion)

Wow that one is awesome!!! Needs to be watched in full screen mode with the volume up.

  • This or the xiaomi yi?

    • They don't appear to be comparable?

      • fair point. my bad there! Do you know of any chinese dash cams that may be comparable? Thinking of getting this because the video quality seems decent although it can't be used without it being connected to a power supply.

  • I have their rader detector , never knew they make dash cam too

    • Aren't they illegal?

      • I think legal in WA?

  • This one or Navman 800?

    • Owner of 850, previously 800. I don't like the software that plays back the videos simultaneously or the way it doesnt lock down the clip when you press the incident button. Wifi transfer is terrible on the 850 as well, would not recommend
