Woke up this morning and saw this deal. Looks really cheap.

There is also a cheaper 4 port version if you don't need the extra USB port.

Edit: damfrog pointed out the 4 port version has pass through charging, might be a cheaper and better option for some.

  • wonder if this will work with the nintendo switch?

    • Likely not. But for the price worth a try if you have another use for it after the test fails ;)

    • Received mine yesterday. Can confirm, it does NOT work on the switch.

  • Anyone know if these would work with the new iPad Pro's?

    • +1

They don't support external storage, so no. But the HDMI might work.

        lol what
no external storage? how is that a pro device again?

  • Looks great. Thanks for the post. Been wanting one for a while.

    • Me too, been watching out for one. Almost bought one yesterday for USD13, but lucky I held out. I was contemplating getting the 4 port version, but meh extra dollar to get another USB port. I think I can splurge out since it is almost Christmas. Lol.

  • +7

The 4 port version seems more useful because it has a passthrough USB-C connection.

    • Oh yea, you are right. Not sure if it warrants another post though. Also, I probably should have got the 4 port version then.

  • Cheers OP.. Great deal thanks

  • so much cheaper than the popular saitek one. wonder how long these will last

  • +3

Looks great! I went with the cheaper one because it has a USB-C Passthrough port that supports 60w USB-PD charging.

Don't forget cashback offers with Shopback (3.6%) or Cashrewards (4%)

  • These are great. Perfect for when you want to import files from SD cards and transfer to an external hard drive

  • That 4 port version looks perfect for my daughters Macbook. Silly idea on them having 1 and 1 only USB-C port.

Another piece of tech to add to the growing pile.

  • Got 1 with PD

  • 5 ports out of stock now, 4 ports ok, quick!

  • THink it’s out of stock - the 5 hub

Thanks for this. 4 port looks like what i should have bought a year ago for my dell xps 13. Do I by 1 or 2…

It appears the 4 port one has USB C input instead of the card reader. I can't see any C input on the 5 port version. I think I'd rather have C.

    Difference is only 60c though.

  • The 4 port version doesn't have the microSD/SD card readers.
Can the PD port be used for data as well? I already have a USB-C to HDMI and I'd like to use this in the 4 port version to display on 2 external monitors. Will it work?

Also can this be used as OTG device? I'm wanting to read SD cards off the DSLR on the phone.

    • Not sure what your intended setup is. If you use your other USB-C to HDMI (to drive 1 monitor) on a DIFFERENT USB-C port and this one (which has a HDMI port but only up to 4K@30Hz) to drive another one, that combination will work. However, if you also want to use your laptop (if it is a laptop) screen (i.e. 3 screens in total), it will depend on the GPU in the laptop.

However, if you just want to use this to drive 2 monitors - i.e. put your other USB-C to HDMI dongle on the USB-C/PD pass through port, then it will most likely not work. The reason is that these cheap hubs don't actually support Thunderbolt (and I am not sure whether it even fully utilise the USB-C port's entire bandwidth). The limitation of the HDMI port (cannot do 4K@60Hz) is already a sign it is bandwidth limited. It still needs to drive USB 3.0/USB-A ports. Left over bandwidth on USB-C port (if it supports data) would be too limited to be daisy chained to another USB-C to HDMI dongle.

      • The laptop (XPS13) only has 1 USB-C so the intention was to daisy chain.
        Thank you for your advice.
I was also looking at USB-A(3) to HDMI adaptors on ebay to have 2 external monitors + the laptop's screen. Based on your comment on the limitations on the GPU, I would need to look for an adaptor with a video card built-in?

        • The USB-A device which drives 2 external monitors might be fine. We use those at work (they have their own driver). I am using 3 screens (including laptop screen) at work - though I've only tried 2x1080p + laptop or 1x1440p + laptop combo. I have yet to test 4K (through that type of devices). They are still bandwidth limited. USB 3.1 gen 2 at best is 10Gbps. The device might even just be USB 3.1 gen 1 (or USB 3.0 basically).

If you want to do multiple displays setup, give each display its own USB-C/USB-A port is the best.

  • need something like this, but also need ethernet so i'll keep looking.

  • Can this be used with a samsung galaxy note 9?

    • +1

      Yes, I'll allow it.

      • Great, that's what I was waiting for.

  • Price must have gone up. $13.87 for the 4-port version with USB-C charging, inc. $0.71 ins. and $1.81 postal shipping without tracking.

  • Thanks, purchased the 4 port

  • +1

    WAZA?!

  • I got it, works great on my smartisan TNT

  • Keep in mind their shipping is extremely slow, did anyone else had an issue with shipping times?

    • Took 6-8 weeks via Europe from a previous Xiaomi MiBox sale.

  • Missed out… :(

  • Would this work with a Xiaoxi mi a1?

  • Mine arrived. USB-C passthrough charging works great!
    Nice metallic finish
