Usb-c. And has a built-in microsd reader. But you can't copy between sd and the disk without another device, eg. A computer.
Thanks for the info! What is the purpose of the SD card slot then?
It allows you to put a microsd card in it to use the reader.
Edit: so I assume once you plug the device into a computer, you will see the disk and the card separately.
@pizzaguy: So a glorified micro SD card reader.
@YellowKnight: One less dongle is better than nothing.
Well it would need power from somewhere.
Batteries. Which you'd hope were there after seeing this kinda novelty HDD with a card reader, but which aren't there.
Seagate how you get so fly?
Thanks OP, just ordered. The reason I believe its a good price is, includes a usb C to usb C 3.1 cable which is around $10, 2TB 2.5 HDD around $80, and for $5 you get a micro SD UHS II reader which is the real bargain. Basically you plug in the HDD to your computer, and then it acts as both an external drive and card reader. Perfect for the new MacBooks ;)
Quick review…
Drive itself:
The drive isn't ultra thin and the protective plastic makes the drive even chunkier.USB-C to USB-C Cable:
The included USB-C to USB-C cable is rated USB 3.1 Gen 2. However, I don't have a USB 3.1 Gen 2 device to verify it. Cable itself though, the plugs used aren't the most ideal type (you can see the join bits, rather than one piece). The cable is 0.5m (which is a conservative way to ensure it will reach USB 3.1 Gen 2). The drive cannot max out USB 3.1 Gen 1, but I guess it is good to get a Gen 2 cable, albeit not top notch quality.Speed:
Cystal DiskMark Sequential read/write: 134/131 MB/s - Decent for 2TB portable hard drive.microSD card reader:
Donglebook (Macbook Pro) users will probably like it. It supports UHS II. However, it would have been much nicer if it is a SD card reader (rather than microSD). You need a PC/Mac/laptop to transfer files between the card reader and the drive.Premiere CC 2 months trial:
Cannot figure out how to activate / use it yet. There is no voucher. There is an app to register the product. Seems like you have to register to get the 2 months trial. It is a USB-C drive so make sure that's what you want / need. I was finally able to properly test my cheap USB-C 3.0 to USB-A cable. Probably more attractive to Donglebook users.
Looks like more for backup than for video editing. I saw those speeds and forgot how quick SSD drives are in comparison now. Good drive for backups though!
So a regular portable hard drive with branding?
