  • Carton Crest Hotel?

  • Crown

  • Why go anywhere else but Crown?

Santes or Conservatory http://www.conservatoryatcrown.com.au are my pick.

  • For those wanting a seafood buffet in Sydney, I rate Restaurant 2150 at Marriott Hotel Parramatta.

Saturday night is all you can eat balmain bugs, prawns, smoked salmon, oysters, mussells & hot food. It's the bugs that have me going back. Cost is around $50…worth every cent.

  • you really get what you pay for, and these days you really pay for what you get too… once was the day you could go to any five star hotel and get a fantastic spread for $20-30, now they're all pushing $100 'degustations' :-(

Conservatory at Crown — great view, first class food, but around $40-65pp it's not cheap, for a choice of fewer 8-10 dishes (plus sides), you'd really be better off dining A la carte in good restaurant, unless you're determined to gorge yourself.

Sante/Kings — also at Clown Casino, really for the masses, especially the tracky and moccasin brigade who spend all their hard-earned pension cheques on the pokies. at a quarter of the price, for a good range ~20 dishes of fairly average grub (not much seafood). if you're in the CBD already it might be worthwhile, but if you're looking around the burbs, you need go no further than Smorgys or Iris Buffet for similar fare ~$10-15.

I've heard that Hot Chocolate @ Waterfront City offers a great all-you-can-BBQ dinners on weekends for $25 ($12 kids) Cafe La @ Sofitel has good breakfasts $30/$40 lunches; and Grand Hyatt Restaurant had a a good deal with their restaurant, but it's under renovation at the moment.

if anyone can offer good value AND quality for buffet dining in Melbourne, I'd love to hear about it.

  • Sante have oysters on Saturday night?
Read some reviews… Conservatory not as good as Mesh but Mesh is fully book tonight :(

  • @ Sante… have to pay extra for seafood & the food not that great! Also they take CASH ONLY…very suspicious, should get a tax man knocking on their door.
Very long queued & waiting time almost 1 hr before we can eat. I'll give 2** for this experience, worst ever!

  • For $28 a head, you can get a Japanese buffet with good choices of Japanese food. Try J's Surf & Turf in Brighton. Here is the review and address detail.
