        I've heard it's the girth

    • but this can grow longer unlike yours ?

Some of these are god awful and very un-bonsai.

Mr Miyagi would definitely not approve.

Bonsai is Chinese in origin, not Japanese. https://www.bonsaiempire.com/origin

In that case, do these come with Branch 28? Also, I can't tell if I need to use the Singapore server?

    • Bonsai is Japanese, however the style was copied from the Chinese? What we know as Bonsai is seen as the Japanese aesthetic, abit like ramen.

I wrote ORIGIN. Do you not understand what that word means?

The Chinese started creating miniature landscapes over 2000 years ago.

By the year 700 AD the Chinese had started the art of ‘pun-sai’ using special techniques to grow dwarf trees in containers.

During the Kamakura period (700 years ago) the Japanese copied the art-form and from that moment on, a distinctive Japanese style emerged.

The art of growing Bonsai trees originates in the Chinese Empire, and like many related art-forms, the Japanese copied and adapted it during the Kamakura period.

        • Looks like pun-sai is the origin and bonsai is the Japanese version of it.

          • -1

@Yamai: I wouldn't say "version", more like "development and interpretation". I do not dismiss or discount Japan's contribution to this miniature art form at all.

    • Bonsai, Banzai! All same to me! Depends who is leading the charge! 😅

    • Well both Bonsai and pasta originated from China, but Japanese and Italians made it popular and better, so get over it :)

      • -1

I never made any claim as to the superiority, inferiority or popularity of Chinese, Japanese and Italian Bonsai and pasta, so there is nothing to get over.

        • You try to do some political correctness I assume? Word, Bonsai, first thing that comes to most people mind is Japan, sames goes with Pasta :)

          • -1

@boomramada: I merely stated an indisputable, historical fact regarding the origin of Bonsai the art form. Your assumption (that I tried to "do some political correctness") reflected your own prejudice. Your assumption has nothing to do with me or my intention in making my comments.
