    • Actual plug is Au but upside down when plugging it in.

No insulation to tell you the truth even some products purchased in Australia don't come insulated just checked my Dyson cordless vacuum plug not even insulated for the price you think it will come insulated I there way highly recommend safety switches for the powerboard.

          • +3

@Mrbean007: If it's a non-insulated plug on a Chinese product that doesn't officially market to Australia, and the text is upside down when you plug it into an Australian socket, chances are pretty good it's a Chinese plug. They just happen to use the same socket as Australia.

I know we're arguing semantics here, but it might matter if people really want an "authentic" Australian plug.

            • @Bonding0909: Lol I always thought Chinese plugs where just 2 straight pins learn something new every day. :/

          • @Mrbean007:

even some products purchased in Australia don't come insulated just checked my Dyson cordless vacuum plug not even insulated

Erm.. are you sure those products are not grey imports?

Insulated pins is a requirement if they are for the Australian market. This is not an optional extra. You need to comply before they can be certified. Dyson must and will have used a plug with insulated pins if you bought a local unit.

Also, as what others have mentioned, those pictures of yours show an uninsulated Chinese plug. Australian plugs have the Earth pin on the bottom, not the top. The length and thickness of the pins are also slightly different to the Chinese plugs.

      • +2

Upside down Au plug = Chinese plug :) Looks like no pin insulation from the dropbox pics

        • +1

Upside down Au plug = Chinese plug

Nope, there is also a difference in the length of the pins.

    • have one, the plug has a built in surge protector and stuff. so in case of a over current, it cuts off first. not sure how to replace the plug/head if something goes wrong, but yea, theres two buttons on the plug, one for test and the other for on which i 've never pressed as its written in chinese and i can't read. it practically stays on all the time once plugged in.

  • Do the connections fit regular Aus plumbing? I've found in the past that a lot of the overseas plumbing items have different connections.

Not that I'm poopooing the item.

    • +3

      Yes.
You just need to change the rubber washer from your existing braided hose from a cone shaped one to a flat one then you're all good

      • This was the hardest bit of fitting the seat. I had a hard pipe going from wall tap to cistern. Found the flexible braided pipes in Bunnings all had the conical washer and didn't allow enough thread to screw onto the plastic filter supplied with the kit. Get a braided hose with an elbow at one end and it's far easier to change to a flat washer in it. Bunnings also have a flat washer in a pack of 4 washers that works.

    • Check that your toilet even has regular plumbing. Some use recycled water that you probably don't want to be heating up and washing your bunghole with. And there might not be a reason to plumb fresh water near your toilet if it's using grey water.

  • -8

Shit! Not this crap again. If I was #1 or #2 in charge, I would wipe these deals!

    • Looks like a bad joke got you in the poo

      • +1

I reckon! I suppose i better faeces the music and de-deuce that the joke was a waste :D

  • +1

Is it advisable to have a plumber to install this?

    • +3

      No, quite easy
Make sure correct size toilet. https://gearbite.com.au/ebay/manual/smartbidet.pdf
Need an electrical outlet near by.
Assuming you got one of these already https://goo.gl/images/MM4wLK . Just connect the include filter to this, that will split one to the seat, and one to basin horse you just remove. If water outlet too far away get one of these extension hose (go between tap and filter, hose from filter to seat is not standard) https://www.bunnings.com.au/our-range/bathroom-plumbing/plum…

Instruction video in chinese but easy to follow https://youtu.be/cgTKsIhgykI

    • +1

If you had to ask that question I would say possibly yes for you.

These are not hard to install if you have the right aptitude. Check out the manual and the install videos.

    • Yes you should, you will need to have an RPZD installed on the water line into the seat, should be no more than $1000 and then just the annual testing.

    • You do need a power point.

  • Anyone know if it's possible to install to an in wall cistern (no visible pipes)? Happy to cut into wall if needed/possible.

    • +1

Where is your flush button located? With a previous in wall cistern I had it was possible to access the stop cock by going through the flush button wall plate. If this is the case, you can probably drill a small hole for the water supply to go through, I'm just not sure what size hose these xiaomi units have. My system only has a thin supply tube to the bidet.

    • +1

Yes, common in other countries in Europe where they are cheap. In Australia they are expensive and plumbers and builders don't like them.

  • Is it English on the control panel?

    • Yeah they give you a sticker that is in English.
Fits perfectly but colour is a button more cream than pure white

  • How well do these work if you got the runs? I'm asking for a friend :)

  • +1

Cold water and hot water massages your body by turns to relax your skin and improve partial blood circulation

Expect to hear heavy breathing coming from the bathroom after you install this.

  • Love this. Can't live without it in Winter. Anyone knows how to clean the external filter?

  • +2

“helping female to clean their vulva easily and keep healthy even in the menstruation period“

Hahah so glad I’m a gay male

    • I'm glad I'm a female beyond those years. We went on a school bus trip, to central Australia, when I was in 5th form. (yeah I am that old). Believe me, it was not pleasant for the girls involved.

      • -2

What a shame that they had an unequal experience to the boys due to their natural physiology.

        • -2

I don't put your intellectual problems down to the fact you are male.

          • @try2bhelpful: What intellectual problems?

And I'm not male, not that that's any of your business.

            • -2

@Scrooge McDuck: So you are just taking on a male persona with your tag. Can't see why I got confused on that one.

  • Generally a plumber wont install because it isnt watermark certified.

    • Not just that they want you to install a backflow prevention device per bathroom attached to these seats

  • I am a bit concerned that the external plastic filter may crack or leak. looks flimsy to me, you don't want your bathroom to be flooded once it breaks or leaks.

    • If you have this concern you can alway install as picture https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/140858/63575/4-1.jpg

      • What parts did you use for that? Honestly I want to bypass the filter and get +20% pressure.

    • It looks flimsy.

      However it's disturbingly hard plastic.
I took an entire day to cut through a little bit of it with a box cutter because the thread on the filter thread started a little bit too late for me, resulting in small dripping leakage. Had to shave off about 2mm off the threaded bit on the plastic filter.

      Works perfect now.

Friend bought one.To be honest, it is not a product that been tested and have legal certification in Australia. The power plug do not have SAA and not registered in ERAC,means, if your house get on fire and because of this, your building or content insurance will not cover the loss.

That's the risk to purchase oversea items.

    Some comments for this item:

Water came out cold in first seconds and then turn hot.

    No drying functions.

Not smart, they have a new version that can connect to mijia app. This one cannot. So you cannot set smart time to turn on the seat heat.

The seat is a bit long for many au toliet. Search eBay reviews of it you can see pictures.

I do not recommend this version.

    • +1

The one ticks all these boxes will be in excess of $1000.

      • For the certificate part, no idea.

I am not saying you need find one tick all boxes. I mentioned there is a newer version from xiaomi that is smart and support their apps, also fixed many issues, at similar price.

For one tick all boxes, will not over 1000 either.

      • Look up Korean brands they cost around $600 mark can do everything above

    • Drying is a thousand dollar function.

The water is cold for about 1 second at the start, also it is refreshing. Heck I go from stage 4 heat to cold on mine all the time, it's a rush.

I don't need an app to turn the seat heater on.

Dunno about the insurance aspect but I will say the cabling didn't feel like crap Chinese stuff and there's even some kind of breaker fuse built into the power plug.

I'm very happy with mine for more money to boot.

    • Drying is not so important, but you definitely want the deodorising functions in some of the other models.

  • I have been told these need an RPZ valve required by law. Is this correct? If so they are not cheap…

    • +3

Correct. No plumber will install for you if the unit is not watermark certified and no rpz

Without rpz it is not considered hazard safe with the unit directly connected to water supply drinking water lines.

The law says you need it yet nobody on ozbargain seem to care.

      Everyone just go DIY.

The built in filter doesn't do anything on backflow prevention.

However I've been told a dual check valve can do the same without rpz. It will prevent backflow. Some sellers also say the it supplied connection is good enough. But this is a grey area

Plumber says something else while manufacturers says you only need this meanwhile consumers do neither with DIY

If you live in a house probably ok. But in a unit probably not as your water supply is running in the same line someone can get sick

I know all this as I had a renovation recently and did extensive research on this topic

A lot of sellers either don't know or pretend they don't because as soon as they mention this noone will buy it. They will just tell you go DIY

  • Does it do a good JOB?

  • Got a quote of $600 from an electrician to get powerpoint installed near the toilet. Can't afford it.
Is it safe to run extension cable from another powerpoint?

  • Wow, even cheaper. Wish I had two toilets and two buttholes.

Definitely worth it. Wish it was slightly more powerful, but it's pretty great

  • -1

Surprised these are popular. Makes me wonder what the world is coming to

    • Clean maybe?

After all, what do you do if you smear faeces on any other part of your body? I don't know about you, but I wash it off, not just wipe with a bit of paper.

      • I have a water bottle that I use to pour water on the toilet paper. It cuts down on the use of toilet paper and allows me a better clean. Dry paper only doesn't clean properly.

  • Bought my xiaomi robotics at Shopro, fast shipping and xiaomi is good value for money as always.

  • Posted this on another thread too, bought this earlier in the week (Tuesday?) landed today (Aus post caused an extra day delay >:| ), so nice fast shipping,

I bought a spare filter, was glad I did as I cross threaded the first one…. Then proceeded to cross threaded the second one…

Ended up getting the Circular saw out and cutting a Little of the edge off… Got it right the third time… lucky there is a decent amount of thread on these…

End result of the install was pretty good though…

Would be good if it came with an English manual though, a quick Google showed me what I need though.

  • Looked at one in Costco and it had a remote. Why the hell do you need a remote for your toilet seat?
