  • Do batteries have best before?

    • +2

Primary yes, secondary generally no but really yes.

    • +3

I'll update you in 5 years to see if they met their claim :D

  • +5

    Not Eneloop?! Blasphemy!!

  • ppl still buy these things?

    • +10

Great to use for gaming controllers.

Better for the environment blah blah - also in high drain devices it costs less in the long run.

    • +2

well, what do you replace battery with ? …. another battery ?

  • Are these batteries any good. How do they compare to envelops?

    • +5

To be honest I haven't tried them, but they definitely look like they are worth $5.80 - $1.45 each!
      2300mah capacity seems promising.

As a reference eneloops are normally $15-$20 when a good deal comes along.

      • +1

True. My eneloops are rated at 1900mah

    • +9

Can't really compare batteries to paper mate :)

      • Weird, who is going to compare batteries with pens ?

    • +4

Can't post batteries in the mail so envelops tend to be more practical

  • -4

Energizer and you compare with envelop? Come on. Envelop years years behind. This is a no brainer deal. Grab them all

    • +5

I, too, have had nothing but problems when charging with envelopes.

  • Cheaper than Aldi LSDs… FWIW

    edit: for similar quality…

    • -1

No comparison to LSD though. This isn't an LSD!

LSD tends to have lower voltage of 1.2v too.

      • +1

The packet says pre-charged and holds charge for 1 year so I believe this is LSD and AFAIK all Ni-MH batteries are 1.2V

      • +3

These are NiMH batteries just like the Aldi and eneloops. Same 1.2v cells. Aldi is $5.99 and that's the regular price. No need to ransack your local Woolies store for a "bargain"

        • +2

Or your local Coles in this case.

      • +1

They are both ready-for-use-charged from the packet and both use nimh chemistry. Even if it doesn't spell out Low Self Discharge it clearly has low self discharge.

        • Do the Aldi ones have low self esteem too?

  • +1

Does this work with Eneloop smart charger?

  • +3

Not only AA, the AAA are on clearance as well.

    • +1

Thanks, added to the post :)

  • +2

Plenty left at dog swamp, WA

FYI, AAA variety at the same price are 800mah rated with retention charge for 1 year.

Both AA and AAA packs say the batteries are made in Japan.

    • Cheers, added :)

    • +8

Surely the planners could come up with a better name than dog swamp?

      • Dog swamp sounds more like a suburb near Canberra.

      • +3

        Obviously haven't heard of Cockburn..

  • Any suggestion on charger ?

    • +1

The official charger is also on clearance as well, including 4 batteries ($15 I think) but unsure if it's any good

      • $25 maxi smart charger with 4x 2000mah aa lsd , not 2300mah

  • should consider newer and now more affordable lithium ion rechargeable batter 1.5V like Jugee Li-Polymar similar to this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/8pcs-JUGEE1-5v-3000mWh-rechargea… I found them pretty good so far

    • +2

Thanks for your input but $59 for 8 batteries is a bit expensive considering they are coming from Singapore and no local warranty or guarantee (with delivery being as late as January).

      • yeah a bit more than current Ni-MH but stay longer and most of all perform at the 1.5V for the whole usage is pretty desirable… this is slightly cheaper
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/JUGEE-4pcs-3000mwh-1-5v-AA-LI-po… but same overseas sources. only way is ebay refund and/or credit card recharge… sourcing locally is less affordable

        • They are 3000mWh, not mAh. That means these lithiums are lower capacity than the NiMH.

          • @Tunblor: Still higher, technically. The ones in this post are 1.2 V x 2300 mAh = 2760 mWh.

But of course this doesn't tell the full story. Needs discharge curves.

  • aa also 1yr charge retention

    guarantee 5yrs rechargeability

got the last aa pk from petrie tce qld , still got 3pk aaa on shelf

wonder if blood pressure monitor provides accurate reading on 1.2v instead of 1.5v alkaline

  • This brand is more well known to man than eneloop which is still new to the market, buy them now!

According to the Choice Magazine AA rechargeable battery review 08/2016 the best (reliable) battery was "Coles Recharge+" score 75%.
When not including battery cost the "Panasonic Eneloop Pro" would have won, but due to their batteries being almost 4x more expensive than the Coles batteries they were relegated to second place. BTW many people in the comments section seem to use Eneloops as the benchmark for what a good battery should be but the "Panasonic Eneloop Ready to Use" came in second last place. The ALDI "Activ Energy Rechargeable" batteries rated highly also, they came in at 4th place and were recommended by Choice Magazine. Finally the "Energizer Recharge Extreme" the batteries in this deal came in at 5th place and were also recommended by Choice Magazine.

  • None left at Coles Endeavour Hills 3802

I got the last two on the shelf at Vic Gardens where they were still tagged at $18 but scanned at $5.80

    • Haha lucky they hadn't got around to putting the discount tag there or you'd probably find none left! I'll add it to the OP to check price it scans at :)

      • Lol yep, got lucky. Well, my two kittens got lucky because their electric mouse has batteries again :D

        • Haha yeah they'll have an electric mouse for the next 5 years at least :D

    • Hi can you share the purchase bill to get price match.
      Thanks
      Saran2403

  • Sold out Oakleigh.

  • +2

Price beat with Bunnings , got 2 of each , thanks op and thanks Bunnings !!!

    • Interesting. Usually Bunnings won't price match clearance items.

    • No luck. I tried that and they said they can’t price match clearance item.
I am in Perth. Which store did you try?

      • Landsdale, show photos and matched. I guess it depends on the person you are dealing with .

        • Possible to share the receipt of Bunnings to get a price match? Cheers

          • @overule: No worries how do you do it though Thru replies ? Anyone can help
Me to upload photos of receipts?

            • @tanastra: You can upload it to Imgur or similar and link it here :)

              • +1

@pennypincher98: I just tried to use my own receipt to price match with office works In osborne park, WA and they can only price beat what is on Bunnings online prices which are cheaper than office works. I might try different store and shows photos of clearance from coles to price beat with office works and you guys might try that way too. Cheers

  • +2

The price difference between this deal and Aldi is 19c. One may as well drive to the nearest Aldi.

    • I used aldis is my camera flash were excellent.

  • +1

Anyone knows if you can get officeworks to pricebeat?

  • I wonder how many they sold @ $23.5 or even @ $18
When IKEA LADDA 2450 mAh is $7.99 everyday (+ $9 delivery under 12Kg)

    • To be honest, I wouldn't think about going to IKEA (nearest one is quite a drive away) for batteries. Same with ALDI, they have cheaper batteries also but don't think to go there as I am almost never shopping there.

The usual places I'd go is either Bunnings or Big W/Target. I'd only get them at Coles if I realised I needed them while I was there and they were a good price, but I'd probably get the Coles brand lol

  • Anyone know how the Coles brand rechargables are? They are pretty cheap and have a "Choice" the inning Pogo thing on them.

  • +2

I went into Office Works and asked for the Price Beat and they did it on the spot, very good customer service, managed to get 3x Packs AA and 2x Pack AAA $5.51 a blister pack. Two of the Coles I visited had sold out. Perth WA. Thanks @pennypincher98 and @overule
