I have one. I love it. Price is not blow-me-out-of-the-water good but is pretty decent.

Only downside was the cheap ssd - had some FPS stutters, especially in the source engine when it played sounds for the first time. Upgrading to a nicer SSD fixed it.

    It's a yes from me.

    • is the ssd controller nvme

      • +1

My SSD isn't, but according to the tech specs document it does support nvme.

        https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/inspiron-15-7567-laptop_setu…

Note that there are quite a few different models in the 15 7000 range so I can only speak for mine (the 7567)

EDIT: I looked at the ebay page and it's the 7567 so you should be fine.

  • So many SSD deals around, how hard is it to swap out an SSD for a larger one?

    • Theres a hard drive bay which is really simple to just add a 2.5" drive - either HDD or SSD.

  • Good buy. I'm using the 16gb version of this right now paid 1300 i think?
    Run's a dream

    • Add 8gb ram I did for $60.
(Bought a new pair of 2x 8gb. Sold internal one for $85)

      • Hi, where or how did you sell your internal one?

        • Gumtreed

  • every time this comes up, I am tempted, but not enough to pull the trigger :D

    • Trs if heading overseas in 60days or less?

    • +1

Just do it mate. No regrets here.

      • the thing is I don't do any gaming, I need a powerful CPU to do photo/video editing on the go, so having a Ti GPU sounds like an overkill. however it is one of the cheapest options to get a 45w cpu, so decisions decisions

        • Just do it mate. No regrets

  • Haven't had a laptop in a while. Is this ok for travel? I was thinking about an XPS 13 but I might only take it on 2 trips a year so I won't really take advantage of the lightweightness and the price tag and screen size are turning me off a little.

    • If you want for work, there are plenty out there that are much lighter and easier to carry about.

Lenovo E485 or similar is what I'd be getting when on special. Unless you specifically want a gaming unit.

      • A couple of Lenovo E485 Thinkpads advertised as on-sale here: https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-edge/…

      • Thanks. I need something I can upgrade to 16gb for some light gaming (pubg, cs) and comfortable use of lightroom/photoshop/premiere. Would lenovos do the job? Toying with the idea of replacing my desktop with this too.

      • What is the best gaming laptop in the smallest/lightest form factor at around these prices up to $1500?

  • +1

    dam it i want one

  • Compared to this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Inspiron-15-5000-Laptop-AMD…

Could someone tell me which is the better buy? Asking as this has an NVMe Solid State Drive

    • +1

The Ryzen laptop you linked only has integrated graphics vs the 1050Ti gaming GPU from the OP. Much worse bang for buck without the gaming GPU.

    • The one you linked has integrated graphics (pretty good integrated graphics, but still not very powerful). The ones in this deal are entry level gaming oriented laptops, with decent mid tier discrete graphics cards. They'll do gaming significantly better.

      • +1

        Nope it has 1060
        Deal is gone though

      • +2

The one he linked has a GTX1060 and a 120hz 1080p screen, would be pretty good for gaming.

        • Ah my bad, I meant to reply to amkssg

  • Interested in the 8GB+16GB OP RAM version.

Could anyone tell whether there is an additional memory slot so I can upgrade to 16GB? And is there a spare M.2 SSD slot so I can add an Samsung 960EVO and use the 1TB HDD at the same time? Thanks!

    • Yes. Currently running 8+8 GB RAM on my 7567. Also, the included ssd is a M.2 SATA SSD but the M.2 slot supports nvme drives. A 2.5" caddy and cable was included in my 7567.

    • The Optane would make use of the single M2 slot would it not?

      • Yes it does, don't buy the version with optane unless you're not going to use an nvme drive.

  • Can i do trs for rhis?

    • For rhis you can, yes.

      • Sorry for my ignorance.

Why is the price shiwing as $1249. is there a code for this? Also how do i get the cashrewards.

        • Read the hyperlink at the end of this post

          • @Sopzo: I can apply the code peartree when i buy as a guest. As soon as i log in to my ebay account it says invalid. Is it supposed to work that way?

  • +1

That i5-8300H + GTX 1060 for $1360 seems quite good. Should I go for it or wait for Black friday sales?

    • There's a good chance it will be around the same price for Black Friday sales.

In the past these eBay 20% sales off Dell laptops are about as good as you can get performance per dollar when compared to more traditional sales like Black Friday.

~$360 more for 8300H + 1060 is IMO worth it over 7300HQ + 1050 Ti, as the 8300H is practically an i7 7700HQ and the 1060 will play games on higher settings than the 1050ti going into the future. 8300H should perform better than the i7 7700HQ as it can turbo higher if it has the headroom. If you are video editing or playing games that can gobble up lots of threads then the 8300H can make a a significant difference over the 7300HQ in this deal. Multi threaded (4+) AAA games are pretty much the norm now.

      • Thanks

Any idea about Metabox laptops? Do they have black friday sales?

        • If I was a betting man then I would put money on the sales not being better than the ones advertised here for ~20% off.

Can always wait if you don't need a new machine. These 20% off Dell laptops come around every couple of months or so.

Pretty much everyone has discounts around Black Friday/Cyber Monday, maybe best to wait to see what Metabox resellers discount around then before getting a new machine.

  • This laptop is great at this price, it would be nice to find alternatives at a lighter weight. 2.7kg + 1kg of battery is heavy.

    • Its 2.7Kg with the battery. Unless you mean the power supply even then thats about half a kg.
For general use, you can run it off the battery all day.

  • Does adding additional Ram or hdd to this void warranty?

  • Pretty cheesed off with Dell. Ordered and paid for the $999 laptop days ago and then get an email today saying no stock, we can refund or how about buying this laptop for $1,700.
Meanwhile I can't apply the code to the replacement offering as I have already used the code - WTF.

    • I was offered a free upgrade to the G5.
Probably tell them that others were given this offer.

      • Same here. Gave me the same offer.
Both basically the same thing with a different name.

        • Pretty much the same, however the G5 contains an 8th Gen i5 instead of 7th Gen.
          Also, 802.11ac + Bluetooth 5.0, Dual Band 2.4 & 5 GHz, 2x2
          instead of 802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.2, Dual Band 2.4 & 5 GHz, 1x1

      • It appears the Inspiron has been discontinued.
The laptop is no longer available on eBay or Dell site.

    • Update, the wording in their email didn't say it was a replacement at no extra cost.
They replied to my WTF email and it looks like they are offering me the $1,700 laptop for the same cost, which is pretty fricking awesome.
So glad I didn't just cancel ( I am not used to getting such a great deal ).

The replacement has a 8th Gen processor, smaller SSD (128 gig rather than 256 gig), and a 1TB secondary drive.
All up this is perfect for my kid entering yr 10 next year as the school stipulate they need a BYOD laptop rather than the iPad they used for the last 3 years.

      Link - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-G5-15-5587-Gaming-Laptop-i5…

      • Are you sure?

Click the link they sent you by email.

The one they are sending you has a 256GB M.2 SSD. with no secondary drive.
It's essentially the same spec as the original laptop that you purchased.
        There are only 2 difference:
        8th Gen i5 instead of 7th Gen
        802.11ac + Bluetooth 5.0, Dual Band 2.4 & 5 GHz, 2x2 instead of 802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.2, Dual Band 2.4 & 5 GHz, 1x1

        • Yes thats the spec in the link for me as well. Only diff 8gen processor and there is no backlit keyboard. So i requested for a backlit keyboard which they have agreed to add on after checking with head office.
