Where to Buy Cold Weather Clothing for Travel?
Comments
I bought some "North Fact" labelled clothing in Shanghai a few years ago; still in use.
If you just layer up some of your existing clothes you’ll be fine. I’ve done -15 like this. Wear a thermal singlet if you have one, then a short sleeve tee, then a long sleeve tee, a light jumper, a heavier jumper and a jacket. Under any pants, wear a layer of stockings or tights. Also consider gloves (waterproof if there will be snow so you can throw it at people), beanies and scarves.
That would be on your coldest day. Just play around with or without layers each day to see how you go.
It sounds like a lot, but it’s actually not. And if you’re travelling chances are you’re walking around a lot, which will also warm you up.
But if you do want to buy stuff, Kathmandu and anaconda should still have winter sales. Uniqlo’s heattech range is amazing and should also be on sale right now. Or, as suggested above, wait until you get to China.
This. 0 -> 12 is not 'cold', and is easily handled by layering of normal clothing. Just make sure you have as much skin covered as possible ($5 wool gloves are fine for hands for example), and you'll be fine.
just noticed OP is from Gold Coast
below 20 degrees will be cold for them lol
Uniqlo for thermals and down jackets.
50k for kathmandu? can you drive it?
are you flying first class to Kathmandu, buying thermals, and then flying back? thats the only way you'll spend $50k at Kathmandau
Get one set here and the rest in China (unless you think their sizing will not fit you).
Where are you going ?, there's a heap of markets that sell cheap Kathmandu in China.
