Recommend a Camera or Mobile Phone for Me

Hi all,

I'm looking for a cheap camera or mobile phone with a good camera. The budget is around $300.

It will be used mainly to take pictures of children indoor (in low light) and occasionally being used outside too.

I purchased Canon IXUS 285 HS previously, which was working great but it only lasts for a year roughly.

The main reason is because it's being turn off and on so many times in a day (I am guessing). So if they are being funny, I would quickly turn on the camera, take 5-10 pictures then turn it off.Since IXUS 285 is using motor, I don't think it can take being turn on and off 10-20 times a day.

I was thinking of getting another camera but I am thinking mobile phone would be fine too. The picture will be mainly viewed on computer so while I am looking for a good quality, it doesn't have to the greatest.

I am thinking of Samsung S7 or a Xiaomi equivalent? Can anyone give me a recommendation? Thank you.

    S7 equivalent is Xiaomi Mi6 if that helps :)
    May be a used Google Pixel?

      Thank you for this. Which one do you think is the best from the camera quality only (including how fast to focus and take a picture)?

      I had alook at s7 vs Mi6 vs Note 6 (https://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=5&idPhone1=7821&…) and it appears that S7 has the best quality in low light and Mi6 is the worst?

        I have used a Xiaomi Mi6, although it's camera is really good and miles ahead of Redmi Note 4, I think it will be better to get a S7 if there is no budget constrains :) It has better slow motion capabilities as I saw in the internet (personally never used a one though )
        Sometime ago, there was some good deals on used S7 here

          Thank you. Yes, I may get a refurbished s7 since it will be used at home only with wifi connected. Is there a better mobile phone/camera (compared to s7) at around $300ish?

      Thank you. I compared the camera quality with s7 and it looks like s7 is better. They are roughly at the same price. If so, I think I might get the S7 instead.

      Was a baby. Now they've grown up and can run very fast!

        I won't use it for calls to be honest. It will be used mainly for taking pictures. Being able to send it via wifi/internet to a computer is a big plus though!

      Thank you. I had a look and it looks like this is using motor (I am not sure!)? If it is, I am afraid it won't last long as it will be turned on and off many times in a day. Can you please confirm if what I research is correct.
