I recently retired the predecessor to the Pansonic.
It was a National from 1980, yes it may have been expensive back then, but it lasted 33 years and only needed a minor repair to keep going.
How long will this last?
I have a recent Panasonic microwave which is about 3 years old. At about 2 years old it failed due to broken plastic parts which switch on/off as the door is opened and closed.
Seriously worst design I've ever seen. These have plastic parts that BEND (by design) every time you open/close the door.. Guess what? They'll break after moderate use.
Never again will I buy a panasonic microwave due to this - utterly ridiculous deign flaw.
I was lucky and was able to repair mine with some glue and a quad copter propeller (yes.. strange I know).
But seriously, these are DESIGNED TO FAIL after some use.
Other than that, they are great microwaves though.
Context: my 20 year old sharp still works perfectly - no silly design issues…
From what I gather, they don’t make them like they used to. Seriously. 20 yr ones still work, but new ones are reported to last about 5 years. Source, I have a 20 yr old microwave and have been in the market for a while but can’t grasp where a made to last model can be found.
I tried to buy this item on ebay but it say code "PGOOD20" can not be applied to this item?
any idea guys ?It worked for me.

If you're tight for space and want a big microwave, the flatbed inverters are on sale too for $255.55

The 27L flatbed is equivalent to about a 40L normal microwave because they don't have the glass spinny tray, so unlike normal microwave ovens, the whole compartment is usable.
I hope they stand the test of time, I'm really happy with mine.
