Rainx Window Repellent or Additive, Which One Is Better?

So I got 2 window repellents from the last supercheap auto deal, it's still quite cheap at the moment.

They sent 2 RainX window additives by mistake.

I went back and switched it and got a $5 voucher for the inconvenience caused.

Was wondering from people's experience which one do they prefer?

The repellent is the main product. Each application of the repellent lasts about 3 months. The additive is more a top-up prolonging the application. Americans feel a bit suspicious of the additive clogging up the wiper spray but I don't think that is an issue in Australia's climate.

    • Ta i'll use my voucher to get the additive as well

  • The repellent works far better and you notice the effects straight away. I've used just the additive by itself and it takes a while for you to notice that it's actually work albeit not as well. You have to get to speeds of 80kmph to get the self-drying effect that the repellent can produce at 60kmph.

As skid says, use the repellent and top up your washer fluid with the additive for the best effect.

Or use Aquapel which is a superior product.

I've always used car polish on the windscreen, works a treat.

    • Same here, use the same sealant I use on my car.

With Aquapel: follow the instructions carefully. I didn't and it took ages to remove the muck that ensued :-(
