I was looking for things to redeem using some soon-to-be expired Asiamiles points and stumbled across these. By using the JB Hi-Fi e-Gift Card AUD100 for 15900pts conversion, the Elite 65t works out to be AUD$149.06 while the Elite Active 65t would cost an equivalent of AUD$165.41. Though not as widely adopted as other rewards programs like QFF and Velocity, I'm sure plenty of Ozbargainer can still access this deal.
Jabra Elite 65t True Wireless Earbuds 23700pt (~ $149.06); Elite Active 65t 26300pt (~ $165.41) via Asia Miles iRedeem

Good find OP. I bought the Active for $200 from Harvey Norman (with AMEX offer) a week back and they are amazing, so happy with them. Unfortunately haven't had the chance to go for a run with them, but I wear them all the time now and they've been solid so far. They seem to lock in my ears really well.
I got them from HN with AMEX last week. Ran with them, rode with them, impossible to fall off, couldn't be happier.
Be careful about import duty/tax.
Asia Miles is amazing… Great transfer rate from AMEX for business class redemptions!
Hasn’t biz redemption for Asia Miles gone up?
It depends which routes, some routes have increased but some have decreased.
Marginally, but for business class redemption within One World - you can't even compare. For example, the Asia Miles rate is 1:1 with Amex. 80,000pt would get me return BNE-NRT with Qantas. I've done this a few times, I think it just went up to 90. Amex rate with Qantas is something like 3:2, and that same route in the same seat would be approx 150,000 QFF points (225k Amex, nearly 3 times). Nearly a third if transferring in. Also, this allows me to book with CX and JAL which covers a lot of trips. You can add 5 members to redeem for, including friends. I am about to use this in December. Highly recommend!
Going by what you said isn’t it more expensive going with mix carrier as the bne-nrt return in biz class fall within the 7501-9000 band which is 100k Asia Miles?
@nightelves: No, because transferring my Amex points to Qantas points is at 3:2 as opposed to 1:1. In addition, the Qantas points required for the same seat, same plane, are significantly more.
@dantione: Yeah but you’re saying you can get BNE-NRT for 80k return. How is that possible with Cathay Pacific when redemption has gone up.
@nightelves: Im saying I did that 80k route within recent months. I can find for 90k with Cathay, Qantas have changed theirs to 100k on the codeshare flight. My recent redemptions (yet to fly) were 16,000, 18,000 and 24,000 points off the top of my head. Look at off peak options on their booking system - the points do vary.
30000 points gets you a Qantas PER-SYD one way business seat - domestic travel is a great use of points.
This (still active) deal is better value for money IMHO unless of course you have lots of points expiring and no near future travel plans https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/402981
That's assuming people want to go to Perth. Which they don't. Because Perth.
I haven't double checked your calculations but I gotta say, to use Gift Card valuation, extrapolate and then say that this is the approximate value of these earphones is not really "appropriate".
I say this because points valuations can vary wildly from person to person. The same 26300pts may be in fact worth ~$520 worth to someone else when using those same points on a flight redemption, which would make this a bad deal.
The estimated valuations you've made therefore I would say are only applicable to those who would be ordinarily using their Asia Miles on Gift Cards/cash equivalents anyway - and I suspect on Ozbargain, this would be a relatively small group.
However, given Asia Miles (as you acknowledged) is harder to earn here than Qantas/Velocity, those who have Asia Miles are probably a little more cluey with their points, in which case this would be a bad deal for them (because they have a good-value flight redemption in mind).
And then there's the money you lost by having an incentive to spend money to earn tokens and being divorced from losing anything by paying electronically.
Even before you get to the nonsense of using tokens to represent real money in transactions where you lose the tokens in deals set up by the body issuing the tokens.
I'd also love to see how warranty works with this. I doubt AirAsia would give two shits if they broke and needed repair.
What has AirAsia got to do with this?
@nightelves: Did you completely ignore where the product is coming from?
@Tacooo: Did you completely ignore what you wrote about warranty?
@nightelves: What the hell are you on about? AirAsia are the suppliers of the product (via their iRedeem program). As the suppliers they are liable for warranty issues and returns. What do you not get about that?
@Tacooo: Asia Miles is Cathay Pacific and AirAisa uses Big Points. Two separate rewards redemption. Get your facts right.
@nightelves: My bad. Didn't know that. Well then I'd love to see how warranty is handled by Cathay Pacific. Same points still stand.
I don't believe this is a good deal at all. There are very few ways to get Asia Miles points in Australia and so if you've already collected so many points, it is unlikely that you would want to burn them on a set of earphones. Number 1 way is obviously by flying, but that would mean you are a frequent flyer to HK, so the points could be used as upgrades for the flights you are always taking. The second is via transfer from AMEX, why perform the transfer to AMEX and let them sit in the account for 3 years? Those points don't expire in your amex account and so I highly doubt anyone would be falling in the category where you just happen to have 20k+ points just "sitting around"
A premium economy one way flight to HK is 22k points, premium economy 30k and business 45k. The value of those flights approximately booking within 2 weeks availability is approximately $500, $1200, $3000. Taxes hold constant at all levels@$200/flight.
Anyone know if Asia miles allows stopover with one-way booking? Have never used them before and I’ve got 45k worth of points that needs transferring out of Amex soon. Tossing up between Virigin Atlantic and Asia Miles at this stage with the possibility of Etihad. Anyone got any recommendations?
Yes, Asia Miles does allow stopover however the website doesnt allow you to make multi city redemption yourself. You have to call Asia Miles for having it booked manually. You can check availabilty by sector first then call to book. Since the program has changed since 1/4/18, it is getting harder to secure seats well in advance. Having said that, it is still much easier to redeem via Asia Miles or Kris Flyer, than QFF as a bronze member. Gave up in accumulatimg my QFF years ago.
Unless you are a Macro Polo member, otherwise try to call Asia Miles during off peak or you may need to wait up to an hour for getting call answered by a human.
Do you know if multi-sector booking can be redeemed as one awards booking? Heard inconsistent stories that they do and don’t.
Asia Miles used to charge slightly lesser points for return redemption booking but not now. Ypu can split the multi cities booking and still cost you the same nuumber of points. You can plan carefully for multiple bookimgs for saving points. For example, it would cost you same no of points for travelling 1 sector from Perth to Hong Kong and 2 sectors Perth / Hong Kong / Bangkok.
For further saving on multi cities redemptiin, One World Multi Carriers Award is another option. There are rules for using that award so planning is a must
@vkkcheung: Excellent! Think I’m gonna transfer my Amex points over to Asia Miles as I believe I’ve found a sweet spot between 751-2750 miles award band that can be used to travel from South East Asia to North Asia.
Some options have like a 36hr layover, and it doesn't count as multi city. Is that long enough?
I know generally deals like this aren't worth it because you're getting much more value redeeming points for flights, but if anyone who doesn't have any flights planned for the near future and is able/willinng to buy a Jabra Elite Active 65t with their miles, please let me know. I'll pay any reasonable amount, even above the $165.41 quoted
FWIW, I bought the Elite Active 65T for a whopping $329 back in August because I was desperate for secure fitting wireless buds and couldn't wait for a sale. Even at that price, I am very pleased with the result. I run with heavy feet and these things don't budge - and they're so comfortable you forget that they're even in. Great, seamless integration with my iphone, too.
The one (very minor) downside is the recharge case is a little big to be running with in your pocket, so you might end up somewhere on the other end of your run with nowhere secure to put the buds. That said, the charging case is otherwise pretty cool.
Check whether your work is a partner with Jabra, corporate partners employees can buy active for 180AUD.
Apparently Optus and Telstra are business partners of Jabra.
Great! That's about the amount I was thinking I'd be willing to go up to for anyone getting the deal via Asia Miles iRedeem as well.
Unfortunately I'm unable to post in the Classifieds section as of yet so I wasn't able to put this up there.
But, if anyone who either gets this Asia Miles deal or works with a company that is corporate partners with Jabra, and can get a Jabra Elite Active 65t, I'd be willing to pay for it, plus shipping if required.
That's a great deal, OP, thanks for posting.
What is the different between Elite 65T and Active 65T ?
Is that only waterproof rating difference ? Is that worth about $30 difference.
Also, Is Elite sport old model and difference from Elite 65T ? I found out they are cheaper than Active model in JB HiFi.
How many pts is it normally?
