not just that - I have one of these and let my 7 year old play with it just recently. I wasn't watching close enough and she promptly lost a ball. I have two dogs in the house and am concerned that an animal that is dumb enough to eat cat poop might find this appealing. They're small and it doesn't take much - they kind of look like those silver cake decorations - gotta worry about other peoples kids too once the balls get loose. Thankfully I found it after a thorough search

I don't know about your kids, but my friend's 8 year old has a whole load of these and she was showing me how to make this back into a cube. I think you're mistaking 7 year olds for 1 year olds.
I would get this any any kid who isn't dumb enough to put stuff into their mouth. Perhaps keep it away from pets.

Just a note - this is a terrible gift for children. The magnets are very strong and are potentially harmful if ingested. It's very easy to lose a few and have the dog snarf them up. Do not let your kids anywhere near this without constant supervision.
