  • Where the 25% coming from?

    • +1

      pantry order. whatever that is.

      • +3

Amazon recently launched their "pantry" range - non-perishable groceries basically.

On those recently added items there's currently a promo for an automatic 25% off your first order. That wouldn't be a big deal (every week there's half price specials in the supermarket catalogues) except they've also been matching Coles and Woolies specials/EDLPs for some of them. The two things stack so you can get a packet of Tim Tams for $1.36 (if you've already paid for Prime or are ordering over the threshold for free delivery).

        • +1

          That's a real pantry dropper.

    • +5

25% added weight after this deal. There goes the diet.

  • I enjoyed TimTam until I read the suger content! 40%+

    • +11

You don't want to start reading sugar contents. You simply don't.

Especially dried fruit. Its fruit right? Its healthy right? Its also pretty much all sugar.

      • I tell my self the cocoa bean has very little Sugar in it

      • +1

glass of orange juice is probably close to a glass of coke lol

      • -1

dried fruit equals suger, coke and juice, enjoy I do not

        • +3

          Wise words Yoda.

      • +1

Especially dried fruit. Its fruit right? Its healthy right? Its also pretty much all sugar.

Still, better than processed, refined sugar.

        • +5

When it's in your intestine it's all the same. The only difference is natural sugar makes you feel a bit fuller for longer.

          • @Chipwich: I imagine the dried fruit has some fibre with it, which slows down absorption.

    • There's 40% sugar plus other refined carbohydrates like white flour.

      • Yep, flour is pretty close to the same calories per gram as sugar, about 4 calories per gram.

        • Oh if only everybody thought this way, nobody would be fat.

    • +26

I see this comment any time Tim Tams are mentioned on this site. Seriously, what do you people expect? It's a damn biscuit, not a carrot or a glass of water.

    • Still better than Milo, which is 46%

  • +8

Additional 25% off is not limited to your first order, it is working for multiple orders for me.

    • +1

      Same for me.

  • +3

This is a good deal, but I don't get why anyone buys the single packs. The double packs go on sale for $2.20 pretty regularly

  • +3

    Delivery is $6 for me.
These are $1.82 at Coles as of writing.

    • +11

Order 27 packs for free delivery

      • +2

Max you can order is 3.

    • +2

$1.73 at Coles if you combine with 5% off coles gift cards lol. Also I wouldn’t trust tim tams not to melt on the delivery truck in the heat we’ve had in qld lately. 33deg in Bris today. Yuck.

  • +2

Anyone that orders one pack and gets free postage for that item…. Ugggh… What a waste.

The courier driver already needs to drive through the area. He earns an extra $3. Buys a pie from a mum and dad milk bar. They restock from the vendor. Vendor sees sales increase and cancels plans to move production to China. China loses money and can’t afford to spy on us anymore. Extends olive branch to Trump. Trump sees the benefit of friendly relations. Pulls out of wars. World peace.

      • -3

The Australian Government already spies on every single Australian's communications metadata which is more intrusive than the content of the communications unless you use encryption. The government is currently attempting the insane move of making using encryption without a back door an offense - or outlawing working encryption in other words, but corporate money may prevent this.

We already live in a police state that the people voted for while you're joking about China spying on you which it probably isn't.

      • $3? More like $1 these days. The paltry amount paid to contracted delivery drivers is terrible. There are some exceptions for large courier companies that pay their drivers an hourly rate, but mostly it is a very low paying job.

  • How has everyone been finding them with delivery now they are 1 year into operation? Are they fast at processing like in other countries (orders usually picked and left warehouse within hours)

Is it Order Monday Melbourne time delivery wed/thur? Sydney Thur/Fri?

    • +4

The plan is to win on speed not price. The catalogue is too thin right now, but this is a catch 22.

    • With Melbourne Metro I find the usual turnover to be about a couple days.

    • +1

If you order in the morning/early afternoon they tend to dispatch it on the same day, after that it's about 2 business days till it reaches your house.

    • +1

I have received parcels the next day with free prime shipping (not paying extra for next day delivery).

    • 3 orders of in stock items the past month. One shipped same day, the others shipped after 2 business days and arrived in 5 and 6 business days respectively (Brisbane).

Absolutely useless on preorders though. Their best result out of 5 orders for me is being a week and a half late. The others switched to being 'currently unavailable' with no delivery estimate or 'ships in 1-2 months' two days after the official release listed on the site.

  • Drakes often has the family pack on sale for $2.50. Pretty much the best deal around.

  • +1

Last time it was this low, I remember it was exactly $1.38 as well. Coles sale of 2007 :D

  • -1

Somehow got 1 pack for $1.36 delivered. How is this even viable?

    • -1

Hence my comment… It's just wrong. Every way you look at it.

Mind you we buy a $1 usb cable from China…

They lose money on shipping a packet of biscuits, but gain plenty of opportunities to make more money in the medium term:

      • Those customers have passed the biggest barrier to future purchases by signing up and having a payment method on their account.
      • To get free delivery, you either bought more to reach the threshold or joined Prime, a paid subscription service (plenty will cancel before the free trial ends but plenty won't, and not all of them will use it).
      • They get positive promotion - when people get a cheap thing they think of Amazon as being a place to get cheap things and come back to buy bigger things.
      • They get you to know they have these kinds of items now, so maybe you'll come back next week or next month and make a bigger order of the same kinds of items.
      • With Prime and especially with 1-Click, they get you to buy without thinking about it. They don't have to profit on every individual purchase to come out ahead overall, especially since their system packages shipments across different orders. Every retailer wants to increase spend per customer.
      • They are willing to lose money and make mistakes at the beginning in order to see where things go (and gather data to analyse upside down and inside out - they are a tech driven company after all), but can always adjust stuff in the future (e.g. minimum orders).

Thanks OP. Bought 37 packs for free delivery. Going to join them together with the plastic straws I bought and make a huge Aussie flag out of tim tams for Straya Day next year.

  • This seller has a limit of 3 per customer. To see if more are available from another seller, go to the product detail page.

    Huh?

  • Thanks OP, got 3 (as it was the limit) for $3.60 after cashrewards. Thats gotta be the cheapest ever if you factor in inflation etc.

  • I'm sorry… may contain traces of what?
