Could I link this card to my paypal, then transfer 3x$3000 to say my wife's paypal account as a 'payment', not a gift (therefore incurring the fee)? Would this meet the minimum spend criteria?

Might end up spending a few hundred on fees, but would be worth it for 120k velocity points if possible.

    • yes - it'd be seen as a purchase transaction

    • Paypal CC fee is 2.4% IIRC - so $9,000 would incur $216 in fees. If you're a few hundred short this might not be a bad idea at all…

If you don't mind locking up the $9k you're better off buying Woolies gift vouchers probably. Cover your grocery and petrol spend for 6 months-1 year without any fees. You lose maybe $100 in bank interest depending on how quickly you get through your vouchers.

  • international fees apply?

  • It's a great card. I have just cancelled as I have had it for a year, and don't want might to pay the yearly fee. Used the points to fly to Bali with my wife.

  • Geez, $9000 min spend just for the bonus points, pass.

  • Can you sell the virgin lounge passes?

  • Shit I just got the anz card but 120k virgin points is great….

  • Anyone selling velocity points? buying at 0.011 (58k needed)

  • It is backed by Citibank which has very bad approval process.
