Looking for Prescription Wrap-around Style Sunglasses

Hopefully, this is the right forum!

I'm looking for some prescription wrap-around style polarised sunglasses, but the stores in my local shopping centre don't seem to have what I'm looking for.

Well, OPSM does - they have a few pairs of Ray-Bans that I like the look of. Unfortunately, it seems that Ray-Ban sunglasses always have their logo painted across the top of one lens and etched into the side of the other lens, and when I'm paying hundreds of dollars for the frames and lenses, I don't want them defaced like that. OPSM say no logo, no sale.

Oakley frames may also work for me, but they seem to be even more expensive than Ray-Bans. Does anyone know where to get Oakley frames and lens cheap?

So, now I'm looking overseas. I know about Firmoo and Zenni. Firmoo seem to have a frame that I like, but it's not in stock. Zenni also have a frame I like. Are there other similar companies that I'm not aware of?

  • I was not aware that Ray Ban make prescription sunglasses, or for the matter you could get lenses made to fit the frame?

    • Ray-Ban definitely make prescription sunglasses, but you can only have Ray-Ban lenses fitted to their frames.

  • Check out Vision Direct. Can claim on health fund, and they just opened a store in Sydney.

    • It's tough to tell how wrap-around their frames are from the images on their web site.

  • What prices are you getting?

From what I understand proper wrap around prescription lens are extremely difficult. I've heard upwards of 1k for Oakley prescription

I've received pretty extreme prices for others as well

Currently I use Specsavers Osiris prescription glasses

    • I ordered a pair of Ray Ban frames and polarised prescription lenses from OPSM for $380 (they had a 20% off sale). I picked them up yesterday and discovered the logo and engraving on the lenses (I first thought the engraving was a scratch!), which they said was on all Ray Ban glasses. I said that no-one had told me that the lenses would be defaced like that, and they agree to take the glasses back and refund me.

This is why I am now looking for an alternative.

      • -1

All Ray Bans have the logo on the lenses.

        • Yes, so I've now been told. I didn't know that when I ordered the glasses. No-one told me about it, and I would not have ordered them if I'd known. I think it's a stupid idea.

    • Specsavers Osiris prescription glasses

From the Osiris page on their web site: 1 pair from $89 or 2 pairs from $199

      Hmmm.
