Grey import with only 12 weeks in-house warranty compared to manufacturers 1 year.

Thanks for pointing that out, I was just about to buy for my boyfriend and gave the watch a positive vote. Not buying without a full warranty

I think people should ask themselves before you're gonna buy any grey imports: does warranty really matter to you?

For a lot of consumer electronics products, there are two parallel markets out there: the official retail channel and the grey market. This is especially the case for Casio watches. If you wanna buy the one with manufacturer's warranty, you should know that you're actually paying for that warranty - it's already been factored into the price you pay. From my personal experience (and probably the overall market sentiment), Casio watches (no matter offcial or grey import) don't easily break down in the first year; in fact, if you don't abuse them, they can last very long and this, based on a market-based probability of defects and warranty-related faults, makes the warranty you pay a rip-off.

This is analogous to the situation when you take a flight, do you always purchase insurance for you as the passenger and for your baggage? I suppose not… because you think the chance of losing your baggage is really small so why incur the cost? It's the same story here, just that you need to know the quality of Casio watches are usually pretty good so the warranty usually are not used and just lapse.

    • I had a both a grey import (1 year warranty) and Australian stock Casio watch (3 year warranty).

Grey import lasted just over 1 year. The retail channel watch lasted 13 years.

          not "maybe"
          he is just UNLUCKY!

if the price is identical or less, why not buy a full warranty?

  • Nice watch.

Digital watches are for children, and stupid adults who don't know how to read an analogue clock.
