PODCAST

I think this is a pretty good deal on a freshly released camera. Nofrills Sydney who are part or Ryda have some Nikon Z7 packages available. From the camera alone to the full kit with the adapter and lens.

  • BEen looking at this. I just upgraded to a 610 about 2 years ago, and can't stomach this price. I love both mirrorless and full frame, about time Nikon joined the table.

    • The Z6 will be available soon at a much lower price. Might be worth looking into.
For me this will sit well with my 850. Similar output with some advantages of mirroless cameras.

      • biggest advantage is noiseless and portability.

Still early days imho, give it a few years for the lens range to expand.

  • until Nikon releases some pancake lens for the new Z mount I dont see myself getting one…

price looks ok but I would wait till end of the year if i was on a market for one.

Can't see a pancake in the lens roadmap they released at the moment but that might change.

    • No interesting lenses in line up + Nikon is not opening up its mount to 3rd party - so expect lens lineup to be reaaaalllly sloowwwwww

      • I think the lenses they announced with the cameras are fine. They are focal lengths that a lot of people use and have received very good reviews both in build quality and image quality. The usual 2.8 zooms are coming as well as a 50 f1.2…As for interesting there's this one lens coming next year called a Noct or something like that :).

        • if they really want to get market share with Z mount they need to release something different
          - small size
          - super fast <1.4
          - nice long range lens 18-200 (to get to the wide audience)

people who had invested over the years in to F mount just not motivated to switch, I would really love to go mirrorless for # of benefits but I just dont see anything out of ordinary there to justify upgrade
for new users, better established mirror less brands look much more appealing

me: (d800 user with about a dozen of F lenses)

Nikon are sandbagging with this model IMO… testing the waters. Better to wait for the 2nd or 3rd gen, ESPECIALLY if you already own anything like a D750 or better.

The lens roadmap is pretty underwhelming ATM considering the new mount too.

yes. a lot of hurricanes lately and potential flooding. Sandbags are important
