  • is it worth going to tomorrow, or is everything good gone?

    • queues may be long..

      • +1

Got there 9:45am this morning. They let 5 or people at a time. Queued an hour and moved 2-3 meters. Couldn't be bothered and left. At that rate I was going to get in at midday. If you have time go for it…. seems like good bargains can be had tho

        • +2

yep, bargain comes at the cost of time..

          • +3

@stockastics: As I’m growing up I’m valueing my time more. I value it at around $40-50 an hour.

So if I have to travel over and hour to save less then $50.
I’ll pay the price of the time.

            • +1

@random101: Hand back your OzBargain membership now!

            • +2

@random101: Damn straight bro..when i was a uni student, i would try to save as much as possible or get a bargain..now i do put a dollar amount on my time..

              • @stockastics: I am a uni student and I face palm when I see lines 20 meters long for a free sausage at uni, when paparich opened on our campus and had half price food (at the cost of half the serving) the lines were more like 40 meters…I've always put a dollar amount on my time.

          • @stockastics: Time = Money. So this ain't that great a deal if you're stuck in a queue for hours on end…

        • How did you hear about this sale?

  • +6

Men's footwear sizes 9-10… what is this, a sale for ants???

    • +1

It's a shame they only have kids sizes, I was keen to go have a look :(

  • -1

Based on what the Nike DFO store is like at South Wharf on any given day, it's gonna be a hard pass from me.

  • Dam that place real close to my work - shame it doesnt open on weekdays

    • u need a guest pass to go in though?
its not open to public other than this wkend to get rid of samples…

  • +1

Anyone who went today able to explain a bit more about the purchase limits?

  • When they say sample sizes are they talking about perfectly good US sized 9-10 shoes for $20 or have they been deliberately damaged in some way to make them a sample. I say this as when Myer was my client many many years back, the employee sales they had would have good leather shoes for $10-$20 but it would have a hole deliberately drilled through the sole.

Also, I'm actually more interested in the Bags so anyone have an idea of what sort of bags they have on sale? EG. the shoe bags, Nike backpacks, Nike Alphas (duffel sized bags) etc. Even the Nike Shoe bag for $10 is a good deal to be honest.

    • +2

I've managed a shoe store many years ago. they didn't deliberately drill the soles. those shoes are usually SAMPLES thats been carried or sent through customs. they drill the holes to check for any hidden illicit items.

      • Thanks for clarifying that. I always wondered about that as it seemed to be a waste of a perfectly good product.

      • +4

Customs don't drill the holes, any commercial sample that someone brings in to the country and wants to avoid paying Duty/GST on cannot be in a saleable condition, the easiest way to do this for shoes is to drill holes, it's a really common practise and has nothing to do with looking for hidden goodies. Source: worked for customs for over a decade

    • -2

That’s stupid- why would they drill a hole for?

    • They just said that they are going to be clearing everyone out and start letting in bunches of people in at a time for 30 mins then clear them out for the next block. Going to start in about 15 mins (1.25pm ish).

Bit is a pain as I’m third in line right now.

  • +2

Any other first hand accounts? Worth the trip down?

  • Employees get that much of a discount / deal!? I need to work for Nike for a couple of months then leave lol

  • What are some good cross training shoes?

  • Glad there's no size 11, good sign for me not to waste my time

  • Can any kind soul please get me a pair of us 10 or 10.5 epic react??

    • Good luck with that

  • sweat shop?

  • Can't they just move the stock to the new store?

  • Lol, so they are finally down to a reasonable profit margin!

  • +1

Got here at 830am. Already a line about 5 metres long. It's now about 9m long

    • +1

hhh counter line or entrance line?

      • keep us updated =P

        • +1

          At least 150 people now.

    • Thanks for the update. Is the line still getting longer?

      • +1

Just got here. There's about 80 people in line I reckon. Think I might just turn around and go home. I don't even wear Nike. I'm decked out in adidas haha.

        • -1

          So you are a billboard

        • Damn and I thought getting there by early 9 would be okay…(though I ended up missing my earlier train)

        • Anything worth buying?

      • Just drove past and the q is huge around the corner and around the next corner. Madness

    • Pick me up a pair of metcons? :’( GL with waiting reporter ozbargainer

  • -1

I was told by a Nike emloyee that most stuff is gone already so no point going. That was last night.

All good, I can go in anytime anyway

  • Line is about 70m long at 9.15am.

    • Once you manage to get in, would you mind posting an update if you think there is much stock left? Cheers Daniel.

How much has the line moved in 30 minutes?

    • 9:30 and spans around 2 corners. At least 200 peeps.

Hopefully it doesn't take too long.. gotta go get my blendtec from Costco since it's the last day of the sale.. oops.

    • +3

Will send update on what is there.

As at 9.44 the line has gone around the building on Gipps street and turned around the corner again into Albert street and that turn is about 40m deep. Total estimated length of line is about 100-120m long

    • +1

Just moved up about 25m. I guess it is going to be steady trickle from now on.

      • I regret not getting here at 830. Made it around the corner and now on Nicholson! Yay.

        • I joined when it was in the middle of Nicholson and now on the other corner trying to avoid the sun.

    • Line just moved about 10m at 10.10.

    • Line moved like only 3m at 10.20

    • +1

      10.30 and another 3m.
I think from the corner of Lt Nicholson and Gibbs street the eta should be 90mins to 2 hours. Pretty bad.

      • I reckon 140min from halfway on Nick

      • I should re-update my optimistic statement and say that from the corner of Lt Nicholson and Gibbs streets to the front it is about 3 hours.

    • 10.50 and another 3m

    • Just had someone try to cut in the line and I had to kick him out.
