I like how in the picture the luggage is directly on the roof of the car..

    • whilst to boot is empty.

      • you don't know that

        • Yep, you can tell by the ground clearance on the rear of the vehicle.

(I'm assuming it has stock suspension)

          • @jv: could be full of balloons

            • @Archi: That would raise the back, not lower it.

@jv: Who said they were filled with helium

        That booty ain't empty

    • Looks like they've added a tea towel under the luggage for added support.

Do you need to wear activewear to use this?

    • I don't mind that she is.

    • It should be compulsory.

      • +1

I disagree. She should be allowed to take off her activewear if she wants. #equalrights #feminism

        • Well OK, seeing as that empowers her …

Would hate to see the door hook thingy get pulled right off the pillar when some of the er.. heavier people try to use it.

    • How strong are those things? I'd be worried about them holding up any sized adult (plus the weight of the item they're taking off the roof). I reckon it'd be fine the first few times, but after repeated use?

  • I was getting ready to rubbish this product, but it might actually be quite useful for me - I'm not that tall and have a bit of trouble loading up my roof racks. Just gotta see if this thing will fit my door catch first.

  • Mmmmm ankles

  • Oh look.

    It has a patent

    LOL

    • I'll see your Chinese patent dated 3rd of May, and raise you a US patent application dated 9th Jan 2017:

If you have a look at OP’s page and the original Kickstarter from Moki, they both use the same photo of the guy out camping and getting stuff off his roof. Seems they stole the idea AND their photos…

  • will it damage the car? i don't want to ruin my high-yield 80k investment

    • Reviews say yes !!

Exactly what I was looking for but word of caution. While standing on the hook, the edge of the step scratched the paint on the inside of my door. I ended up wrapping the step with a small Towel. Wish I knew that before I used

Question: Does the Doorstep will damage my vehicle ?

Answer: We at Poydemte Doorstep added Thick soft rubber with each step to help avoid damaging your vehicle. This Thick soft rubber as a buffer and protection between your vehicle and the Poydemte Doorstep. So far we haven't had any issues with any vehicles we have tested it on.

  • Demonstrates a downside to having a SUV / 4WD, except most don't use roof-racks for anything anyway.

  • Resting a foot on it might be ok, however I doubt a door striker would be able to handle much weight on it

    • Don’t know about that. They seem to do a pretty good job of holding doors closed in accidents. There would be more load and stress on this in an accident then there would be from some soccer mum loading team blouses into a roof boot.

      • But the load would be at a different angle. And it would be used repeatedly for the Doorstep.

Well, just in case you don’t have anything else to do today, you could have a read over Australian Design Rule 2\01 Side Door Latches and Hinges…

This sets out the requirements for door latches on motor vehicles and what they need to withstand. It also goes into how the tests should be done. (If you don’t have all day, you can scroll down to section 6. That’s where the load forces are talked about.)

          *SPOILER ALERT*

11,000N (or about 1,122kg of force). Lateral direction
9,000N (or about 918kg of force). Sheer direction.

I was going to insert a Yo Momma… joke in there, but it might get flagged. :D

    • A bit suss all the pics on their site showing one foot standing on something else

    • But but but… they have the patent….

Hmmm, solved the "problem" here by just buying a vehicle that is lower than me.

    • So really short people have to buy a Ferrari? :P

Only if they want to use roof-racks

  • What happens if you store the stairs in your bag which is on the roof?

  • +1

I can just see the queue of happy customers visiting their panel shops to get the door strikers adjusted cause the door won’t shut properly.

    • And scratches on the roof

Can measurements and weights above be converted into Australian?
No idea on inches and pounds here.

      • be converted into Australian metric?

        Yes, turns out they can…

Pounds to kilograms, multiply by 0.454
Inches to centimetres, multiply by 2.54

        510lbs = 231kg

        5.9” x 3.9” = 15cm x 10cm

        • No, Australian measurements are in ciggie packets for length and slabs of beer for weight.

          • @woteva: Oh, I thought Australian length was measured in “yay longs” and “bees dicks”

And I also thought that “slab of beer” was a currency used to pay for work done to cars and motorcycles?

            So confusing.
