  • No NG model.

  • this or Family Q Q3100?

    • I'm wondering the same thing. This one seems to have gotten better reviews.

      • I was on the same boat about 2 months ago and i finally went with the Family Q3100. The selling point for me is that the Family Q uses cast iron grills whereas the E210 uses steel ones.

        • I'm under impression Q3100 has less space under the hood comparing to E210, wonder if that could be an issue for cooking chunky stuff i.e. chicken or brisket?

          • @yoba: I have never experience space issue so far with my Q3100. It has ample space even though it's not the high lid model in the Q3200. However, if cooking space is your main priority (spit roasting etc), i'd say go with the spirit. The Q3100 is more compact compared to it.

    • Family Q3100 all they way.

      • Please elaborate?

        • Well, Mine is 12 years old now. Easy to clean and a mush more manageable unit.

I also have the Q 1000 (Baby Q) for camping.

Family Q Is normally $580 on sale isn't it? And the cart costs $200+ on top doesn't it? Plus I'd need the extra hotplate and I don't know what that costs. So let's say I'd be up for at least $850 for the family Q on sale. So this is a pretty good deal!

    • Looks like this is an older model too, Spirit series II is the new model. I doubt much has changed though. The model on offer from Qantas seems to be what other countries call an E-210 Classic.

Family Q includes the cart for $567 at TGG… decisions decisions… not sure about those enamel coated steel grates on the Spirit..

      Comparison: https://www.bbqdryrubs.com/weber-q-3200-vs-spirit-ii-210/
That's the newer Spirit model but the things they talk about in the article are basically the same as the old one.

    • Umm. You can't use the family Q without a cart, they don't sell it without a cart because otherwise you can't use it…

      • Not really a reason to neg me seeing I was asking the question and not making a statement.

  • settled on Spirit E-210 due to indirect cooking capabilities, and 40% off is hard to ignore for an OzBargainer!

  • Still prefer to cook me BBQ the old fashioned way with wood/coal type BBQ.

  • +1

I bought one too thanks OP. Went and looked at the Family Q and Spirit today, no comparison really, Spirit better in nearly every way for my needs. Better build, thermometer in hood, higher hood, two zones, more powerful burners than family Q, the ability to do indirect cooking, gas bottle gauge, hooks to hang tools on, 4 wheels, flavorizer bars, proper sturdy collapsable side trays. As a bonus we had 40,000 points and ended up buying for $330.
