As I mentioned on a similar thread early in the week, you can buy a non-Apple Type C PD charger for a 3rd of the price, with near identical specs: https://www.banggood.com/BlitzWolf-BW-S10-30W-USB-Type-C-PD-…?

Or one with an extra Type A port, for more universal capability: https://www.banggood.com/BlitzWolf-BW-S11-30W-Type-C-PDQC3_0…

Blitzwolf are a reputable company with an excellent track record, and these chargers are excellent in my experience.

Banggood deliver to Australia in about 1 week, based on my last few packages.

Paying top dollar for Apple's overpriced accessories is just encouraging them to keep ripping off their customers. Don't be complicit in their scam!

+1 on the BlitzWolf charger. I believe you only need the Apple USB C to Lightning cable if you are looking to fast charge an iPhone (since there are no third party ones available last time I checked).

Can also vouch for Banggoods service and postage time to Oz.

FYI, BlitzWolf BW-S10 is given a (☠️) safety rating at lygte-info.

        • (☠️) = "Isolation distance a bit low, but it did not fail safety tests"
Does anyone know if it is safe to use?

          https://lygte-info.dk/review/USBpower%20BlitzWolf%2030W%20PD…

That icon means "Isolation distance a bit low, but it did not fail safety tests"

The review says: Testing with 2830 volt and 4242 volt between mains and low volt side, did not show any safety problems.

    • Any chance you know if they make anything suitable for the older type MacBook plugs?

      • Don't know if this helps but, you can get charger connector adapters for older to newer MacBooks, and vice versa

      • If you're referring to MagSafe, I don't think you'll be able to find a USB-C to MagSafe Cable.

    • Just so people know, only the first one you linked fast-charges iPad's (14.5-15V@2A = 29-30W). The 2nd one only does 9v @ 2a. Still better than the stock charger though.

There are situations where you prefer Apple original 29W:

      • If you actually look at the tear down of the adapters, you will see a big difference in quality. You think BlizWolf managed to come up with a design that's much slimmer than Apple and yet provides same low noise and stable voltage)? Your devices will use inferior chargers, but unless you actually check with a meter, you cannot tell the quality of the adapter.
      • If you have first gen iPad Pro 12 inch (as it may only support the voltages the 29W charger provides).
      • You have the need to use it overseas and you have the correct Apple plugs for those countries.
      • Yes, $28.5 more than 3rd party, but you can walk into an Apple store and get a replacement if it failed.

Honestly, if you really want to fast charge your iPhone using USB-PD, then you are already paying for the premium of the cable (the 1m version recently got a downgrade to USB 2 (used to be USB 3) from Apple). You might as well buy original charger - your phone costs so much more anyway.

To really save, just stick with the standard Apple 12W iPad charger (forget this USB-C/PD marketing gimmick for iPhones). We are talking about 15 minutes difference max.

      • Also this support new MacBook (2015 and later) at 29W, so if you have Macbook, iPad Pro and iPhone. This will fast charge all of them, pretty handy to have

        • I don't think this would fast charge a MacBook. I know the 13" MacBook Pro comes with a 61W charger. I'm sure it would charge it, but only at half normal speed.

      I want an Apple charger.
      * Shut up, take Blitzwolf, they are the same.
But I want that Apple charger and the price is actually lower than everywhere else.
      * There's no point, take BlitzWolf.
I need an Apple charger, here's a bargain, here, this deal!
      * It's not a bargain because you can have BlitzWolf!

What kind of logic is that?

I want an Apple-branded charger and this is the deal here. Why the neg?

    So blitzwolf or this?

    • But then as pointed above ^^^

Good excuse to buy a new iPhone… ;)

Just because it's bad value doesn't mean its not a good deal. 27% off an Apple product is A-ok in my book. Especially when the alternative is ☠️

      Huh?

Just because it's bad value doesn't mean its not a good deal.

That's not even a real anecdote.

bad deals are bad deals doesn't matter which way to spin them. The only way to spin this as a good deal would be if you can flip it on ebay/gumtree for $50 and buy yourself 2 x $10 chargers.

@salmon123: Your logic doesn't work. This is a good deal on Apple 29W USB-C charger.

Yes, you can get other chargers with lesser quality etc for less money.

That makes this product relatively poor 'value' but it's still a good deal price-wise if you wanted this specific product for whatever reason.

They're two different metrics. One is subjective (value) and the other is a fact (it's a cheap deal for that product).
