  • Any privacy concerns with this? Seems a bit too good to be true…

  • needless to say that "for the iPhone and iPad" should have been included in the title.

Looks like it comes with ads. The top in app purchase is "1Ad-Free Version" which costs $4.99. You wonder how much space it would take up to store the maps on the iDevice as well.

  • Thanks!

  • "top selling premium navigation software application"

    Since when?

    • Since when?

      Since 7 March 2011 apparently…

  • Just a WARNING on this…

I'm not sure I want advertising appearing on my screen while driving… It appears you'll need to make an in-app purchase to disable this, and other in-app purchases to add some of the features…

    • Was playing around with this yesterday while I was on the bus. I didn't see any ads on the map.

      • where are the ads then ???

  • +1

Has anybody here actually used this yet ?

  • Is there an Android version?

    • google navigation isn't too bad. voice is horrible though

      • Use SVOX UK English Victoria Voice from the market.

VERY good voice. Its so great having all the street names and any other weird names spoken to you.

Beats any GPS I have ever used.

    • says so since Dec 2010:
      http://www.navmii.com/Android/
but not sure if that includes Aus as you will see web page is pretty vague.

  • uses OpenStreetMaps… from their site:

"HOW CAN YOU OFFER THIS FOR FREE? OpenStreetMap is an open source mapping system that was created by over 250,000+ users and as such the map data is free to use. As the maps are open and rely on users creating and updating them there will be a chance that some of the maps are incorrect or missing all together, especially in more rural areas."

Anyone got any views on whether OpenStreetMaps is adequate ?

    • OSM is great for looking at maps, like google-maps, but I don't know how much additional data they have on allowed turns, road speeds etc.
Anybody ever heard of a navigation program using OSM before?

    • It is crowdsourced, and therefore based on people uploading data (e.g. GPS traces). It is therefore less complete for areas not frequently visited. It looks good on the surface, but there is definitely data missing (also streetnames), even in the middle of metropolitan areas. I would have some concerns about its ability to find addresses (with street numbers).

  • Just been playing with it seems pretty good specially cause its free

  • Its a free app and has always been free - although its only new.

Hence its not for the front page as free apps vs apps that are free for a limited time, dont belong on the FP - moved to forums

    Nice post otherwise

  • The price is right!

    • +2

      i'll wait until it's on sale…

      • good call, they might have a buy 1 get 1 free offer soon?

  • How do you change the units in the app to km instead of miles?
