Where's The Best Place to Buy Engine Oil Online? (Price & Large Selection)

Hi everyone!

I'm about to buy some engine oil to service my car and when I was searching online for engine oil meeting my car manufacturer's specifications I realized that engine oils weren't widely available online. I mean when you type one model of oil you're not proposed with many results of ecommerce site letting you buy said engine oil. Instead you are served with results of product information page from engine oil makers (shell, Castrol …) without the possibility to order online.
Anywho I ended up finding only 1 online site that was offering a descent selection of engine oil

https://automotivesuperstore.com.au/service/oil/engine-oil

And I shortlisted these oils

https://automotivesuperstore.com.au/castrol-edge-5w30-a3-b4-…
https://automotivesuperstore.com.au/castrol-3413348

The price sounds alright what do you think? My car was previously serviced with Castrol SLX LL 111 5w30 priced at $145 by the dealership.

Let me know if you know any other site I should check out.

Thanks

With regards supercheapauto/autobarn, I did mention online in my title.

Though if you say that these stores have a large selection of motor oil I will definitely check them out this weekend

Sorry I'm not familiar with what a sockpuppeting is?

Glad to see that the community here has helped you save some money. Doesn't look like anyone has answer this question of yours so I will.

Sockpuppeting is when you pretend to be a consumer who has "found" this great deal/company, but the truth is that you are affiliated with them.

Now that you know, you can see how it could look like you're associated with automotivesuperstore.com.au and pushing their store, when it's pretty common knowledge that stores like Supercheapauto have decently priced auto products.

        • Thanks for your input and yes I understand as I'm familiar with the concept of sockpuppeting on forums.

But to be honest I don't think my post looked like sockpuppeting, at least for anyone who actually read my post.

For a starter at any moment do I mention a great deal. I literally ask what are the thoughts of the community regarding the prices of automotivesuperstore

The price sounds alright what do you think?

I finish my post by asking if I should check out other sites

Let me know if you know any other site I should check out.

Then like mentioned above a quick look at my profile would have quickly removed any doubt about the legitimacy of my post before unnecessarily being rude and pointing fingers.

Also consider that what is common knowledge for your might not be for others. I'm new in Australia and I recently bought a car and still familiarizing myself with the local stores and websites with regards of their price positionnement, reputation etc

Please note that my comments are not in any way targeted at you, you've been kind enough to answer my question and I appreciate that. I just thought I should put it out there.

          Thanks to the community.

  • What car do you own?

Sounds like you own a BMW.

      Hi mate,

      I own an Audi. Manufacturer's oil specification recommended are VW 502 00, 503 00, 504 00

But I guess my question is more about where to find the larger selection of motor oil at the best price online. And eventually in store as someone hinted above that we can also find motor oild in specialized stores.

What do you reckon? Am I better off driving to a store or shopping online for motor oil?

      • In store.

Motor oil is heavy, shipping is expensive.

VW 502/505 is the older standard so your car must be at least 10 years old.

        VW 502/505 comes in 5w30 and 5w40.

My VW is older so I use 5W40 and service the car myself. I usually pay around $30 for 5L on sale and stock up. I purchase from wherever is cheapest.

Tried Castrol Edge years ago, it was okay, but my car ran quieter on Nulon Fully Synthetic.
