Great timing for me as I was planning a kitchen Reno. So booked mine to get a design and quote from IKEA which I'll use with a couple of other places to compare with.

  • Good find, thanks! Free makes it worth doing even just to get an idea of how you could change it. The fee always put me of thinking seriously about it.

  • Same have bunnings design but ikea cost and features would interesting

Don't bother. You spend all the time planning, but then they are out of stock for half of your kitchen and have no facility to order parts or put aside. Expect to have to make multiple trips to try and get all the parts you need.

Isn't it just an Allen key you need?

true that, we were building our PAX wardrobes, collected everything except the drawers, and they are still not in stock since 3 weeks now :(

    • I would get them to do the delivery and install as well, so wondering if that's going to be an issue.

      • If they don't have it they don't have it. Its not just doors or colour specific panels either, they can be missing whole units or benchtops. Its alright if you live next door, but no fun if you are more than an hour away. Personally I would jump on gumtree and get a second hand kitchen. Still ends up being better quality than an Ikea one if you find a good one.

But.. Second hand kitchens don't fit?

Serious question as I've considered it.

@justtoreply: Its a combination of luck, research, and being creative. You can reduce the amount of cabinets used, create new panels (a backboard end can save you a fortune). In extreme cases move a door. It probably cost a couple of hundred to do that but meant we had an awesome kitchen. Not saying its ideal, but for $2000 fully installed we have a kitchen worth close to ten times that.

  • I thought that if you completed the planning appointment and went ahead to purchase a kitchen from Ikea, the $99 would be a credit to what you buy. So the appointment was free anyway. The free planning appointment is only a bargain if you don't go ahead with purchasing a kitchen, but that defeats the purpose of booking the appointment in the first place…

how does it defeat the purpose? you get a free plan and design at the end irrespective of your final decision on to go ahead or not.

you still keep your design plan which you can use at other places to get quotes etc.

    wasnt this free anyways?

    don't remember paying for it

  • any idea how long this will be valid for?

  • what would the average kitchen cost from Ikea?

    • From what I've read between $5k-$10k depending

  • Why would anyone pay to get an appointment for a salesperson in the first place? Seriously if i'm about to spend 20k on a new kitchen who in their right mind would pay to sit down and run through the design? Shouldn't that be free anyway?

  • is this still valid?
just went to book this and it wants $99

    • did you enter the voucher code at checkout? appointment must be before Oct 21st.

  • The tyre kickers will be out in force.
