Long time lurker and first time poster.
Was after a shield and found that Futu has it on sale until tomorrow. Seems like a decent discount.

They don't compare, not even close imho. Shield is a far better (and more fexible) choice.
Just a personal opinion but the XBox really annoys me as I don;t find it all that intuitive or flexible.
Did you even read what I wrote? I never said anything about the Shield as a device (or that consoles are better), I simply said it's not worth buying the Shield controller when for the same/cheaper price you can get one of the other console's controllers instead which are fully supported on the Shield.
Thanks for the post but it's not much of a bargain, it was $214 just a couple weeks ago.
EDIT: Or is this a special 'gaming edition'?
Damn I missed out on that one
Different controller (Asus vs Nvidia).
$ 224.10 without controller

This model comes with the "Gaming" Controller.
This is a good choice if you don't play games. I have the game controller, but it only gets used when the grand kids are visiting. Other than that, it doesn't provide any advantage over the remote control.
A couple of bucks cheaper here with code PUMPKIN:

Thanks, Pumpkin.
Question for the Shield experts:
If I already have an Xbox One controller and Logitech Harmony remote.
Is there anything these ones do?
xbox one controller works perfectly, just connect it via bluetooth.
The only thing a bit annoying is that, you have to reconnect the controller every time you gonna use it. Instead, I believe the original one can keep connected and used to wake shiled up.
But I don't use it for gamming a lot, so doesn't quite bother me that spend 3s connecting.

Thanks, that would annoy me.
If you have an XBOX S, you can use that to stream and watch from hard drive?
Yes
If and when I get a Shield I always thought I would get the controller because it would allow always listening Google Assitant access. Does anyone use this much? I would have thought it would make it an easy way to turn on and use the Shield.
You can use either the game controller or the remote control… makes no difference, just use whatever you prefer.
I'm pretty sure the remote doesn't support "OK Google" though?
I'm pretty damn lazy if you can't tell.
Aren't all these listings for the same product?
$329 from Wireless1
$329 from PC Byte
$329 from Tech Mall
$329 from PC Meal
$329 from Electric Bay
If so then Futu's before price of $369 is a joke, as usual.
and $295 from Mwave
Don't see why people bother paying ~$70-$80 more for the controller edition of the Shield, just get a Xbox 360/Xbox One/PS4 controller(or probably have one spare) and use that instead.
