I'm going to get one value purchase out of my Prime trial ending today if it kills me, so I guess it's come to this.

  • THanks got one of each Home improvement items. :)

  • Thanks OP, managed to get one of each of the hooks. Looks like they went pretty quick.

  • Looks like they just had a few left in stock for those hooks which are now unavailable.

  • Anyone experience with the large command picture strips im in a rental and wanted to put up to large framed pictures and a large mirror all of which could weigh about 5kg each. Are these any good last thing i want is to damage walls or in fact the stuff in the rooms where pictures would be hanged.

    • -1

They are crap. I used it them to hang a picture which fell off the wall later that day and damaged the frame

      • It seems or at least in wa houses dont have plaster boards which im used to overseas and knocked in a metal hook.
But walls here are plastered over and trying the same can result into damaging wall. So as a renter i can't do that or use these strips that are no good.
Looks like there be not pictures hang up again.
Or if i don't mind spending $$$ on reparing the walls after.

Aren't the instructions to not hang anything on them for something like 24 hours after you stick them onto the wall?

        • +3

Yup, the strip needs to stay on the wall and the time is for the adhesive to cure before you can put any weight on it.

    • I had 9 or so things on the wall with command strips at my old rental, which had old crappy paint on the walls.

We had probably 40 strips on the wall and damaged the wall pulling 3 of them off. One was because the person pulled the strip out instead of straight down. Another was really old paint that had already started to peel, so a big chunk came with it. I didn't see the third bit but it was a tiny mark, I assume also because of pulling it outward.

The heaviest thing we had was probably 2.5kg with 6 strips, so you could probably do heavier with more, or by using a couple of heavy duty hooks.

I've found they work quite well, provided you use enough strips to handle the weight. The velcro style strips leave frames solidly in place, so don't have to worry about bumping them or straightening them up. Plus if you ever have to move them about, you only have to replace the wall half of the strips, and can just keep on using the ones stuck on the frames.

      • Are the strips here a good price im trying to compare what other place sell these for of same pack.

        • Definitely a good price - anywhere else I've seen them (coles/woolies/big w/kmart) you'd be paying close to the same price for only a pack of four pairs of strips.

    • I used the heavy duty one to hang a glass-frame picture weighing roughly 4-5kg.

I let the strip hang on the wall without any weight for a day though (I think that's important)

    • I have about 40 pictures being held with the picture strips or multiple hooks.

I have a coat rail on the back of my front door (metal rod suspended between two of the largest hooks) and also a 15KG mirror over my bed.

Been using these for years, couldn't survive without them!
