  • What are ppls thoughts on the Labo kits? Are they a worthwhile addition?

    • +4

Great fun if you have primary school aged kids.
Cardboard takes A bit of effort to build and isn't overly durable but can keep you entertained for awhile.
Only built the motorcycle so far and as an actual Motorcycle rider I can confirm that the experience is pretty fun and semi realistic.

      Edit

Also you can use it with Mario kart 8 too

    • Definitely go variety over robot - the latter's really a one trick pony. Plus it takes up a lot of space.

It's a joke. Grab free cardboard from Costco and print the templates yourself from official website

So I'm guessing you haven't used Labo and are jumping on the "it's just cardboard lmao" bandwagon

        • No I was actually introduced to it by my nephew, I thought it was neat until I saw how much it was going for.

      • +1

You do realise you're paying for the games too, right?

For $59 you get a bunch of mini games, pre cut cardboard models and accessories to build projects.

  • Damn just paid $79 at JB on the weekend for the variety kit.

Great fun and worthwhile at only $59.

I wonder if I can buy another and return it with the original receipt? Their returns policy is a bit grey

    • +4

You can go in with your receipt and get refunded the difference. Source: I just did this exact thing.

      • +3

Thanks. Just did this successfully at the Nunawading Victoria store with no questions asked

    $40 off and I'm in!

Amazon AU just lowered their prices to match JB. Makes it worthwhile if you have Prime.

  • I never did think labo would take off. Might be fun as a once off activity, but replay value wise I can't see it working.

    • It didn't. Hence the sale.

  • Nintendo Labo Variety Kit

With the Variety Kit, you can create many different Toy-Con, including Toy-Con RC Car, Toy-Con Fishing Rod, Toy-Con House, Toy-Con Motorbike and Toy-Con Piano.

Can you make all those kits at once? Or is it like some Lego sets, where you've got to disassemble the end product to build one of the other options? I imagine it being the former as it's cardboard and not as reusable as Lego…

    • +1

Yes you can make and keep all of them separately.

You can't really disassemble them once built as some models are pretty involved in building them.

No glue or tape is required though, so if you're patient enough you could pull them apart again.
