Sucks to read that you're having issues but I'm willing to vouch for them and say they're not scammers. I've used them for over 10 years and have had great customer service from them.
It might be a case that the credit card transactions are outside their control or that they couldn't process whatever they needed to in time so charges didn't go through.
I had an enquiry with a recent booking which I called them about and they solved it without making a fuss (10% discount via Amex Offers didn't get applied). Try to give them a call and see if someone on the other end can help you resolve things.
Thanks for the advice. Gave them a call and after waiting 30 mins listening to their annoying jingle on repeat the rep I spoke to investigated and then apologised and gave me a refund. Calling them scammers was a bit harsh (though I'm sure if the same happened to you with a company that you hadn't used before you would feel scammed). I guess they just have some dodgy customer service reps on the email side, as they should've refunded me as soon as I gave evidence I had made the second payment rather than trying to get the hotel to pay me back.
I use them every time. No issues ever.
At what point and where do you get the option to enter a coupon code? I have tried 3 or 4 hotels in Sydney but can't see it.
Same here. There is nowhere you can enter the coupon code - in my case the '24hoursale' was automatically applied and that is the only one they allow for some reason.

Not all hotels are eligible for the promotion so maybe the hotels you are looking at in Sydney fall into that category

Same, get this error even though it was a brand new account, and have never used this site before.
Tried but a code for a lousy 2% off was already applied and couldn't apply your 10% off code.

I think this code is only for Maldives Islands. If you go here: https://www.agoda.com/en-au/deals and look at the code for it, its the same code.
No look at link above your comment, I’ve tried it on Thailand works fine, thinking maybe some have used a different code in the past 12 months & that’s why it’s not working, try it without logging in, terms say it works on any hotel where a promo code cent be added.. call Agoda they’ll likely add it manually

I would avoid these scammers. Recently stayed at a hotel I had booked with them a month prior and when I got to the hotel was told that their credit card was declined so had to pay a second time for the same room. Got in touch with agoda through email and sent them the receipt of my payment as requested. They then said the hotel would release the hold on my card but the charge ended up going through a few days later. That was just over a week ago and they haven't responded to my emails since.. . Paid them with PayPal so will attempt to raise a dispute and see if I can get my money back that way.
