What's with this castle hill Bunnings always having good deals?

  • Seen these in some VIC stores, should be able to price match. Usually $29.98, last price was $19

    • +2

Bunnings will not price match different stores clearance items.

      • +2

Yes they do most stores r happy to help I can go to any vic Bunnings and get a price match from another Bunnings I do it all the time

        • +2

Can confirm, have done it with many items

      • +11

I worked for Bunnings for 5 years, Bunnings will not price match store specific clearance items because they are usually overstock not necessarily dead stock. Dead stock can be price matched but store specific specials will usually not be price matched, especially between states. If you got a store manager on the day that did then you lucked out, because this is not standard policy.

Bunnings Tamworth NSW won't match. I've given up trying or generally looking into prices there. If it's on the website then I usually find it's that price in store.
          Good store otherwise.

          • +1

@Messiahlad: That's where I got my kit from today, I don't think this particular item is a store specific clearance item. But from what sk3iron says, they aren't supposed to price match.

        • I found Kotara wouldn't last year.

          • @BewareOfThe Dog: Yeah its just luck of the draw, but policies/rules are meant to be broken and if they need them sold then it's a simple price match. Doesn't really matter if you've been an employee for 20 years, there's always one employee who is clueless with price matching.
A perfect example is this Galaxy Note 8 price matched for $153 at Officeworks

Unless you are woodworking or need hex/socket bits stay away from this kit.

    • +1

      Why?

      • +3

        Bits are soft

        • +3

They are a little. Fine for stuff around the house……..don't buy it if you're building a deck or something though.

        • +1

Ta. Saved me a trip to Bunnings.

    • +1

Agreed - bought these a while back on the cheap, and they're really soft and prone to corrosion. Ponied up for some Kingchrome drivers not long after and won't bother with this rubbish again.

    • +1

Can confirm the drill bits are very soft, they're like toothpicks. Broke from drilling through pine.

130 Piece Drilling and Driving Kit

    Don’t Drill and Drive.

    • +4

Yup, everyday is a public holiday with this kit.

    • Ahhh a few days to late with this message jv! Could have saved Greg Inglis lol

    • What if I did?
How much fine and how many demerit points would I get?

      • +2

        You'd be screwed…

    • That's what she said.

  • +1

maaaaaaaaaaaaaaad i work literally across the rd, gonna go grab one.

    • +1

      gonna go grab one.

Are you actually going to buy it though?

  • +1

Any cable ties in the kit?

  • Thanks, had them at the store I went to.

  • +2

Op can you add seven hills to this. They have about 200 units i reckon. Same price.

  • +1

    Also available from Bonnyrigg NSW

  • If these are the ones I'm thinking of, the drill bits are held super tightly and not conveniently accessible, so you have to use a tool to pry them out. Super annoying.

  • +1

Not just NSW, I bought this same set last Friday at Mile End Bunnings in SA for $15. Had around 10 left after I got one.

  • I've had this one for a couple of years. Great kit.

  • I continue to see these posted. Are these developing an Eneloop / QC35 following?

  • I've seen the black oxide drill bit kit from some stores for around $19 - might be better for those wanting a cheap-but-butter-soft set of bits. Stores I've gone too still have lots of driver bits from the Irwin sale many weeks ago too so that might be a better source for driver bits. Rather than just this single set.

Disclaimer: never used the black oxide or Irwin bits; only got as far as tempted to buy

  • Also available from Keysborough VIC

It is advertised as $19 in store https://imgur.com/a/mb6gJvC
however when I took it to the counter, it scanned in at $15 before I even tried to price match.
    $14.25 with Trade discount https://imgur.com/a/1chUrbs

  • How many cable ties?

  • +2

Picked up a RYOBI Stud detector to have a look and it started beeping.

    • +2

      Line up here girls!

    • Must have been faulty.

  • Picked one of these up from Wangara in WA the other day so seems like an Aus wide deal. As said, they are rather soft but alright for light duty jobs.

  • +1

Don't leave these outside. They'll go rusty overnight.

  • Presumably mostly imperial sizes (sockets, hex bits etc), like the other kit that's around $20?
