Trade 2 Games (XB1, PS4, Switch) Towards a Switch Game Pre-Order and Get The Game for $29 @ EB Games

140

Games traded in needs to have a minimum trade-in value of $10

This offer may only apply to Switch preorders. Xbox and PS4 Games may only be reduced to $49 after the trade-in

Just received this via e-mail. I was sent this due to my Mario party pre-order, but it goes on to say it can be used for "insert game".

The trades must be PS4, Xbox One or Switch games.

My assumption is this will apply to any standard edition pre-order, but at this point that's the best I can tell.

As for specific deals, this seems worthwhile if you have two cheap games that you want to put towards any $99.95 game at EB Games, especially ones that are less mainstream. Other retailers usually offer cheaper than EB Games, but smaller titles don't get that treatment.

Plus, typically after pre-ordering with these deal you can still price match on the day to receive a further discount. This will of course depend on your store manager though.

Enjoy!

  • Wondering if this will apply for Assassins Creed Odyssey or Red Dead 2…

    • Only AC for $49, no lower price for Red Dead

      • Hm how you figure $49?

        • +1

$49 was the price given in the email.

May be it's the same condition as this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/405370 (minimum $10 trade value game)

  • +1

Beware - EB recently imposed a 'only games with a trade-in value of $10+ count' limit, which rules out a lot of games..

    • Yeah I found out the hard way the other week attempting to trade for Mario party. Tried woth 2 ps4 games with driveclub ($4) and infamous last light ($7) and had no success.

  • +1

The "insert game" is because its a form email and they didn't fill it out correctly. The 700 eligible games are the ones you can trade in, not trade towards (ie, they have over $10 trade value).

    • You've convinced me about the 700 eligible games referring to the trade-ins themselves, so I've removed that. It still reads to me like it's saying this is a general policy. Though I'll request to take down the post if someone has anything definitive that says that's true. Thanks for the help!

      • $29 will not be the standard price for this trade in deal, only for switch games (which have a lower RRP). PS4 and Xbox One games that have a similar deal will be for $49.

  • Always good when they dont include the list and I assume it is any pre-order

  • +3

I'm guessing this list of 700 games isn't available to see on their website. Would be good if someone from eEB could post a list up

    • +3

I would love something like this. Makes it super handy to trade. I have noticed it seems to be take the selling preowned price and divide by 3 and that's pretty close to what they offer.

  • +1

Sure eb, here is my Spiderman ps4 and mario odyssey for 10 bux each - sorted!

  • GT Sport at Amazon for $12 is a good one to add for trade bait as it trades in for $13.

    • Do you mean Gran Turismo Sport (PS4) ?

When did you get the $13 trade value?

  • +4

    Yeah EB Games are criminals.

    • +1

actually I now think this is true because the list of 700 games is not viewable, not accessible in any way in fact, and appears to have been made up for advertising/marketing purposes only.

So there are no terms and conditions that can be seen, which I thought was illegal, so all these offers referring to the 700 are illusory -they don't exist - because of course the 700 are changing every day.

Deceptive conduct at its absolute best…

I wonder what the ACCC think of this.

        • busy at lunch with the bankers laughing away at the royal whitewash…

  • Any Switch game? Such as the Pokemon ones or Super Smash?

Also is it possible to see the list of games? I have some Ps4 ones I was gonna get rid of.

  • or trade two games at JB and get it for free

  • I feel like the real bargain here is to work in the 'Zero Regrets' trade in policy so you keep your games and pay a lower price then general (but higher then the $29 … probably $49)… not sure the best way it can be leveraged is though without knowing game trade values.

  • I just trade in my 500g Xbox one s at castle hills eb games.
They accept any games… so I gave them just dance and another old game… and also they didn’t check xbox at all…I asked what happen if someone gives them a broken one, they told me they have a team can fix it.

Just in 3 minutes, I finished my trade in and left their store with the new 1T Xbox one X with 3 games! Pretty happy!

  • Does this still work like it used to, in the past it would credit you the difference of 60.95 based on full retail price of the game
You could come back in a different day and cancel the preorder for the 60.95 store credit

  • Slightly off-topic question. Does anyone know if EB still accept trade ins for PS3 games?
