Good work posting the compatible models! If there's a soundbar not on the list, it most likely won't work with this set. Samsung rear speakers change each year and as they do the models they work with change.

  • +14

Looking at that model list screams out one thing… Way to many soundbars in their product line. Not to dissimilar with their phones too.

    • +6

It's often better to release only a single model, that way people have no choices at all, and also covered less markets and segments…..

      • +5

then release one without AUX port to demonstrate courage

        • +3

And then make it more expensive than any other in the market.

          • @onlinepred: And then make waaaaay more money then your competitors.

            • +2

@Randolph Duke: That's what happens when you have good marketing, people wave logic for emotion.

              • @onlinepred: If you say so.

                • +2

@Randolph Duke: It's what the average consumer says so haha. Hence the word sheeples was invented for this very reason, people literally line up for days for a product they can buy from any old store. I mean even now with the latest iPhones they offer less, have less in the box, yet charge more. They don't even have fast charging out of the box lol in 2018 - you can buy a fast charger out of the box though for $69 (doesn't come with a cable though). See how it works? If they just get the phone into your hands, then you have to spend more money on top of it, and of course their accessories are very costly too so they make loads of profit from you on the phone, and then the accessories which fall apart quickly - and don't forget that since you are locked in, you will pay for apps that they get a share of, and probably pay for other apple products like a laptop/cloud storage etc etc which locks you in further to their ecosystem. It's a well executed marketing plan aimed at those that don't care about money, or are concerned with image. You tell me, would you pay $1400 for a phone that does more than a phone that costs just over $2400, does it matter that it doesn't have an apple logo on it?

                  • -4

@onlinepred: I don’t actually care. I really don’t understand Android fan obsession with running down Apple/iPhones at every opportunity. We get it, you think you’re smarter than the average iPhone user. So edgy. Meanwhile, enjoy all your manufacturers copying iPhone design after design, and secretly clapping every time Apple drives up mobile phone pricing.

                    • +2

@Randolph Duke: I actually use an iPhone X…. So guessing since you acting like a apple fanboy, you are well aware how much of a rip off they are….

But you really shouldn't get into this, as Apple are slowly copying all the features from other phones. The notch, wireless charging, fast charging, notifications, bezeless design etc etc. The sooner the better as they are quite behind. I miss the days of jobs

                    • +1

@Randolph Duke: I have met some of the most obnoxious Apple fan boys in the past too. It goes both ways.

                    • @Randolph Duke: https://youarenotsosmart.com/2010/05/19/fanboyism-and-brand-…

Give this a read. I used to be like that as well so I can relate, but there's no need for it.
The same thing happens with AMD/Intel AMD/Nvidia Audi/BMW even WD/Seagate lol. It doesn't matter.

We don't want to be like this:
                      https://www.extremetech.com/gaming/244920-russian-man-senten…

Way to many soundbars in their product line. Not to dissimilar with their phones too.

                      and

It's often better to release only a single model, that way people have no choices at all, and also covered less markets and segments…..

Apart from the using to instead of too, these are both correct and rational comments.

then release one without AUX port to demonstrate courage

This one is just a bit of harmless fun at the expense of Apple.

I really don’t understand Android fan obsession with running down Apple/iPhones at every opportunity

We're not all like that, and my friends with iPhones aren't either. I indirectly hold Apple shares and wish them all the best, but there products don't appeal to me.

@idonotknowwhy: Thanks guys, way to prove the point about taking things seriously. Please, more detailed analysis.

  • +2

I have this. Volume so low, hardly notice they are there. But at this price it is a bargain.

    • +34

      Try the + button?

      • -1

        I got the same problem.
The rear kit volume is relatively low comparing to the front system. There is no way to turn up the volume for the rear kit only.

      • He means the background sound or something… big speakers make more even sound so you dont have to push the volume up so much.. just sounds more natural with bigger sizes

    • +24

When tv's get fatter so they can put decent speakers back in

      • +1

TV speakers? Pfff. Get I decent and real setup. Sure there’s wires, but worth it.

    • +1

You do realise you can just ignore them right? You have plenty of options..

      • -7

        But it is a fad.

        • +8

Lol so? Its not going anywhere. People want wireless and small speakers. Tvs will only get thinner and will never have decent speakers.

          • -1

@jno: I prefer a traditional stereo setup. I'm not like most people.

            • +2

@Windows7forever: I have floor standing speakers too but that doesnt mean you shut down an entire market just because me and you like a tradational set up. World doesnt always revolve around a select few

              • @jno: any good recommendations? dont like soundbars
prefer a simple and clean floor standing speaker solution

dont want to have to deal with amps and multiple remotes either

                • @furythree: If you dont want amps etc you're only options i can think of are powered/active studio speakers. Not sure if they can use a tv as a source tho..might have to do some research

Unfortunately floor standing speakers need something to power and distrubute a sound source for them to work *correct me if im wrong

I have floor standing speakers run through an amp and the amp is connected to my tv through hdmi arc so i can control most things with one remote. Also turns on the amp when i turn the tv on and vice versa

                  • @jno: I replaced my amp and floor standers in my living room with active speakers that have every connection imaginable…. TV easily.

I'd hope so though, given their price.

                    • @scuderiarmani: Ah must sound beautiful! If only the price was not always the issue

        • How exactly is it a "fad"?

          • @smartazz104: Leave em, some people like to be edgy haha anything thats not relevant to them is a "fad"

          • +6

@smartazz104: A (FAD) fish aggregating or aggregation device is a man-made object used to attract ocean going pelagic fish such as marlin, tuna and mahi-mahi (dolphin fish).

    • +1

Offer a stylish, similar price, and slim alternative instead of just dissing them.

      • -4

Sound quality is more important than slim and stylish.

        • +4

For you! Not everyone else! Ffs is it that hard to comprehend. Companies arent here to satisfy just you lol..

          • @jno: PainToad's just chillin and offered an opinion… never said for everyone else.
Then ol jno comes swinging in… Did you wake up and have poppers for breakfast jno?

            • +1

@OneMoreTune: Some of us wake up and have poppers for breakfast! Get over it!

        • +1

I wish I had no care about appearance. Also no care about physical space and requirements. If so perhaps I would look like a yobo and my place would look like a techies mess house. In the meantime since you can't offer an alternative, you have proven the point.

  • HW-MS650 3ch Soundbar $699

Says not compatible on its details page.

    • Thanks its not part of the table. I just mentioned that as a soundbar deal, apologies for confusion have updated post

    • Correct. It does have a wireless rear speaker option, but not these speakers. The SWA-9000S speakers work with the HW-MS650.

  • can't find HW-K550 on the list, anyone know what is the difference between HW-K550 and HW-N550, try to google it but noting found. cheers.

    • Any luck? I am in the same position. Would like to buy a set if so.

    • The only differences I can think is K550 only supports SWA-8000S not the newer 8500S and the new N550 can decode DTS 5.1, unlike the previous versions can only decode DTS 2.0.

  • +2

    Thanks OP

Bought the HWM360 for $180 ish from HN couple of weeks ago
    Full set for <$250

    • Can you please tell us more about sound quality of soundbar?

      • +1

Happy with it so far. does the job well.

        • What are your settings? So far I have it at 50vl for volume and +5 for bass.

          • +1

            @griffy: same
+ surround sound on and change the mode - music, standard etc.

  • +3

I’m presuming the speakers can’t be used on their own?

    • was thinking the same thing haha, I would so use this without a soundbar if I could

  • +1

Eek need to check my model number when I get home. I've had it for a couple of years though so highly doubt it'll be the M series.

  • Will The Good Guys price match or price beat this?

    • I think JB bought the good guys a while back and thus they do not. So a good guys employee said to me when I was asking about Oppo phone prices one time.

  • +1

make me feel like to pourchse a samsung bar now to make them full set..now let me find out if theres any bargain for the bar first

    • +2

HW M360 is selling for $195 at HN

  • +1

I have HW-MS650, is it compatible with this soundbar.
    Also JB price showing $179.

  • I purchased the hw-m360 sound bar from the good guys last week for $198 and they couldn't find the rear speakers at the shop for me to purchase (lucky me). Decent sound for my bedroom and I was told the rear speakers in this kit are small but does the job. Does this special start on Thursday? New on here and not sure where to find the promo code.

    • No promo code needed, starts Thursday.

      • Okay, thank you

    • I really wanted to buy that for $198 but they raised the price today to $299. Badluck….

  • Looking for the LG ones

  • I got the HW-MS650 earlier this year from Good Guys for $549 - best to wait if you were planning to purchase that one.

    • How are they? I am considering getting one.

      • I'm happy with it overall. The bass is really impressive and doesn't piss off the neighbors if you're in an apartment. In the surround mode you get a good amount of seperation and it actually mimicks having rear speakers pretty well. Spotify integration is excellent too, if you're into that.

  • +2

I purchased the HW-N650 and rear speakers SWA-8500s to set up in a 4x5m living room. Loud enough for sports or music, clear and crispy for PS4 gaming.
The acoustic beam tech of the soundbar really overwhelms the rear speaker set (or maybe the SWA-8500s were too quiet).
The SWA-8500s seem like a waste of space and $$.

    • Thanks for that. I have HW NS650, not sure if its worth adding these rear speakers?

    • good feedback, I also got the N650 (bloody good soundbar!) and was able to pick these up, haven't set up yet.
however my living room is open plan with kitchen, so hoping these will make up the rear surround

  • ahhh damn not compatible with the HW-MS650 :(

  • +3

These are good. I bought some a while back for around $100 from the Good Guys ebay and they were easy to set up and sound good. Definitely recommend if you are keen to add some surround sound speakers to your existing sound bar.

    Pros:
They are wireless between the soundbar and the rear speakers.
They are really easy to set up.
They sound great and are a cheap alternative to a new sound system.
You can change the volume of the rear speakers relative to the master volume.

    Cons:
The speakers are wired to the rear base unit (the speakers themselves aren't wireless)
The rear base unit requires power and needs to be near a power point.
The speakers can be a little quiet if you can't get them near the chairs you will be sitting at.
The speaker design is a little different to my front speakers

    • -1

You can't expect rears to have no cabling at all. Unless of course you'd like to charge both rears every week…

Rears aren't meant to be loud. They are for effect.

  • Damn I could have sworn these work with the MS650

  • HW-MS650 only $381.65 at David Jones. Only available through click & collect at Hay St Mall WA though.

  • Do these speakers turn a 2.1 soundbar into 5.1?

    • +2

      4.1

    • +1

Depending if it processes surround on your existing bar, otherwise it's not actually surround at all.

  • +1

Is this a catalogue sale ? No one in JB (Multiple stores) are aware of this mark down starting 04/10. Can you confirm

    • Of course they'll say that

    • Guess you and your multiple contacts at JB will find out on Thursday. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

    • Yeah, it would be good to see the source so that we can forward plan. I'm looking at the HW-N450 2.1 Soundbar for $349, not sure if it's worth that much extra compared to the HW-M360 for $198.

  • +1

Great find, hopefully the LG Rear Speakers SPK8-S follow next 😃

  • Hi,
Do I need to get a soundbar with a 5.1 processor (eg HW-N650 5.1 Soundbar) to get true surround sound?
If I get a 2.1 or 3.1 processor presumable the sound coming out of these rear speakers would just be the same as the front L and R ?

  • Any idea when this deal starts? 4/10 has started few minutes ago, but the price still shows $179. Thanks

    • Lol just came here to check the same

  • +1

Not a deal until someone manages to purchase… refreshing madly! (Well, sporadically)

  • Stayed up for this, no price change. Will probably wake up tomorrow to either bogus deal, or all gone!
