Beta dates have just been announced for the game as October 23rd for Xbox One and October 30th for PS4 and PC
I've heard a little about this game but not much really so this might be a way off question. Its "online only" will it have ongoing fees to play ie after the first month?
No fees. There are micro-transactions but only for cosmetic items and these items can also be obtainable through game play.

Amazon doesn't take a deposit. You can pre-order to get access to the beta and if you don't enjoy it cancel your pre-order.
I tried explaining so many times but people somehow had this weird way of thinking that preordering game WITHOUT paying money is a bad thing.

It has free updates with cosmetic microtransactions (like how fortnite does its updates). According to bethesda you can earn everything in game though.

Sorry for stoopid question, but I don't get it: F76 from Bethesda is $92, this one from Zenimax is $69 (and it has something extra apparently). What's the catch?
ZeniMax is just the parent company of Bethesda. The game is not shipping or sold by ZeniMax, it is sold by Amazon AU.
It'also $69 at JB, Amazon is just price matching, plus their bonus

I spoke to Amazon Support and they told me I would be getting a beta code with this pre-order. They said to wait 24 hours for an email.
Yes, i received my beta code from them a few months ago, so i assume you would receive it a few days after your order.

Didn't receive my beta code so I contacted support. Rep told me they aren't giving out beta codes and haven't for a long time and to contact the publisher. Left him some negative feedback and received an email today apologizing and a beta code.
