Some new vegan burger launch from Grill'd. Apparently the v1.0 wasn't good enough.

I had one of the free Vegan 2.0 burgers, small fries, and a drink this afternoon at my local Grill'd. It was pretty good. Texture was soft, not chewy or juicy like a beef burger.
Vegan Burger 2.0…
Patty has a distinct strong flavour - which might not appeal. Is not big, but could barely get through it. The patty is heavy going with no taste surprises to make it appealing. It's price point is towards gourmet burger, which should be better than this.
Staff member said difference with V1.0 is the texture of patty - not so crumbly.
Really needs some salad (lettuce & tomato or maybe slaw) to give it some texture & crunch. Heavy going with lots of sauces, patty, bun, & little else. Ended up a stodgy mess with Pattie slip-sliding out of Pannini bun.
Now sitting heavy in stomach - not what I expected from grain & vegetable based "burger". As others said, mouth is dry after eating suggesting may be due to high salt content? Not a pleasant aftertaste & strong smell on the fingers & breath.
This is not a product likely to win meat eaters🍖 to Vegan ways or replace the mainly meat based menu at Grill'd as some seemed to suggest earlier. I've cooked for large groups of Vegetarians - there are lots of tasty non-meat & vegan dishes, but this isn't one of them. I won't be buying.
Asked for the Ingredients List (laminated card kept behind counter):
Basically a nutmeat patty, tasting a bit like ones sanitarium makes (pea protein, chickpeas, yeast extract which tends to give the stronger flavour, binded or bulked out with with rice & potato starch, Guar Gum, with beetroot powder & cracked pepper, maltodextrin, canola oil, etc… Contains wheat)
Vegan Cheese - although I didn't notice it (water, coconut oil, … coconut sugar)
Vegan Mayo - lots, probably to give some flavour & oils / moisture to the dry patty (?)
A sauce that looked like tomato on other side of patty (?)
Pickles - thin sliced
Onion - almost not visible amount
Possible better choices for non-meat eaters… (Not vegan) (haven't tried)
Discussed the new Pea & Hemp Pattie which sounds tasty (46% pea, crumbed & grill'd).
Also new Garden Pattie (77% veggies)
you're amazing! I think i'll give this one a miss
Thanks OP - redeemed mine today. I didn't mind it and more so cos it's free :)
