  I'm all for getting a cheap TV, particularly an Android one, however would getting a cheap android tv be similar to buying one of those cheap android tablets where they don't really work smoothly enough to do anything useful?

    I've got the 65 variant of this TV works smoothly, the only very minor issue is Wi-Fi But that could be because I have extenders in the House and the TV sits in the middle of it all.

  Actually, a real nice picture quality on my TCL 65 inch version. Not too shabby at all. Currently though, I have time to cook myself a full dinner waiting for it to boot up when you turn the TCL on (hopefully a firmware Fix ain't too far away). This despite toggling a fast start…

  Otherwise, quite a nice package for the price point.

  I've got a 55C2US (IIRC) and I've been pleasantly surprised by updates, as I bought into TCL without expecting any at all. Out of the box it had an update, then it got a major update from Android TV 6.0 to 7.0 and it has since had 2 more minor updates and patches that I know of(maybe even more). Aside from the slightly slow booting (I don't use fast start/quick boot option), it is a respectably fast and responsive TV.
