Xiaomi COOWOO U1 LED Desk Lamp w/ 4000mAh Battery & 2 USB $20.77 US (~$28.63 AU) Delivered @ Joybuy

560

Currently this is the best price you can get due to the inclusion of GST. The packaging and manual will be in Russian rather than the usual Chinese, but everything else remains the same.

This lamp has an inbuilt 4000mAh battery that doubles as the power for the lamp which provides up to 8 hours of run time and as a charger for your devices with it's dual USB ports. A single touch at the base powers the lamp on/off, long press adjusts the brightness and the stem of the lamp is flexible allowing you to adjust it in any direction. It takes a standard micro USB cable for power/charging and the two USB ports provide an output up to 2.1a.

AU$ based on current Mastercard exchange rate at time of posting.

Can this be used with power always connected?

    • +1

      Yes.

  • It's nothing to do with Xiaomi.

    • +3

COOWOO is a Xiaomi backed company. Like pretty much every other product except those under the Mijia branding.

      • FWIW you won't find the word "Xiaomi" on the packaging, the manual or the product.

        • +1

Correct it's not a mijia branded product.

What is the maximum wattage of the LED bulb and what type of bulbs does it take?

    • +1

Looks like the lamp already has LED emitters in it. Can't read Russian so not sure if it says how many lumens the output is!

      • Thanks. My only concern with LED emitters is what to do if they start to fail.

        • Buy a new one.

  • Thanks OP.

Weird. I just tried linking the details in English but got smacked with a referral link. Please have a look mod. Anyway if you want the details in English they are HERE

    • Anything after the .html in the URL tends to get flagged.

    • One of the "updated reviews" on that page says this, just in case anyone needs to know: Doesn't hold the charge. The battery is only one hour or less, although the description is 8 hours.

      • +1

probably 8 hours on the lowest setting, 1 on the highest.

It has quite a large range of brightness, though I leave mine plugged in most of the time.

        • probably 8 hours on the lowest setting, 1 on the highest.

The website claims: "8+ hours at the brightest level".

        • +4

@CocaKoala: I bought it from the previous deal. I usually use the mid-level of light, it takes more than 10 hours. The light adjusting range is wide, so it's a good one for a bed light and reading light.

        • @Thbloke: Thank you, that's good to know. I might even pull the trigger then. Just blew away $900 this morning on the ebay coupon, so I must exercise some control. :)

        • @CocaKoala: Yes, this light is good, but it is pricy.

      • I have a similar light, 3 settings
        10 on low
        4 on med
        and 1.5 on highest
5W and same 4000mah, I leave it plugged in for the high setting with a nice 1.5m usb cable though med is pretty bright on its own
I also bought it for 6 dollars on gearbest so god forbid you buy it for 3x the price for the xiaomi branding

        • +1

$6 is significantly lower than what you even pay for in China. That would have been at a loss sale by Gearbest with limited pcs for sure.

        • This lamp actually has a large range of brightness, like… a dimmer switch. You hold the button and it scales up slowly and you release at the brightness you desire. It also has two USB ports at which is useful to charge a couple devices.

Can you link your light? I was planning to buy a second one of these since I find it very useful, but open to options.

        • @Clear:
          Here it is
          https://www.gearbest.com/table-lamps/pp_1633865.html?wid=143…

I got it for 5.95usd I think….don't think I was able to reduce it with GB points at that time since it was on a flash sale with some 1x% off

EDIT: I got the specs wrong though my mistake

        • +1

@Exley: I missed the similar light part woops. Zanflare would be the Gearbest branded light. Not bad at all.

        • @0lllllll0:
Mine is a similar one sans 2 usb ports, might not be what you're after

      • The manual for the other version says "Operating time: about 7 hours (in the state of maximum lighting intensity)". I've only ever had mine on for five or ten minutes at a time so I can't testify to the accuracy of the claim. Maybe I'll test it out.

Got lamp delivered to regional NSW today and really liking it so far. Nice build and has a nicely low orange lit power/dimmer switch when plugged in and/or charging and also has a fairly variable light range.

Will now test out how bright it get's tonight and see how long/good this battery is.

    • +1

It works good as a bedside lamp or study lamp but don't expect it to light up a room like your traditional lamp with a bulb. It's more of a better and practical Xiaomi USB Light that you stick in the power banks.

      • Yep, after testing I fully agree. Just what I wanted it for.

For a while was using a halogen reading light for the purpose you mention above until a few weeks ago it blew, then I remembered buying a few Xiaomi usb Lights ( stored in drawer ) that I could use coupled with a choice of powerbank ( have acquired a large collection from ozbargain over the years lol ) and that worked ok.

Then I remembered being tempted by one of these this year and this deal turned up, does the job I need it for perfectly as I like low light anyway. Love the simple lit up touch power/dimming switch and two usb out are a bonus.

Wonder if it can do usb power charge through ( forgot what you call it technically, but you know what I mean, powering the light at the same time as you give power out through the lights usb port(s) similar to some power banks. Although some power banks are capable, the manufacturers often warn against it as it probably strains the charging circuit/battery maybe ).

        • +1

That would be called pass through charging and it's supported.
