OP, it is rated as 9 hardness, is this Moh's scale ? doesn't this mean it is hard enough to scratch the OEM paint?

    • +1

WTF? This is a liquid. It only hardens after it's been applied.

      • +2

I never claimed to understand it just asking for clarification.

It's a liquid, it hardens okay cool. How do you remove it? How does it apply evenly? What causes it to wear off if its so hard and so sticky?

I find this all intriguing but confusing

        • most of the time the only real way to remove it is to polish it out

    • It just adds another coating over the top. Ceramic coatings do tend to help with swirls but it is not scratch/stone proof. You need to look at a paint protection film if you want that sort of protection such as suntek/xpel

  • +1

how does this compare to stuff like ccquartz?

  • How good is this stuff? I've got a 4wd that I rarely wash and lives under trees - can I put this on then none of the tree pollen/sap/etc will stick for 5 years?

    • +2

No way. For anyone who is asking novice questions like the above, then this product is NOT for you. This is a specialist product. The car's painted surfaces need to be prepared properly. The application needs to be done accurately. The buffing needs to be done thoroughly. Then you've still got to know how to wash your car properly on an ongoing basis.

      • +2

Agreed. It's not as easy as simply putting it on. The pollen/sap may be easier to wash off after application, but application in itself is NOT so simple despite what's said in the description. Paint correction, which should be done before application of ceramic coating is a long process.

        • In a perfect world you would clay and do paint correction, but i tried cquartz on a relatively new car with little paint correction had very minor swirls and with 2 coats of cquartz it almost filled all the swirls.

Not sure about the long term performance on this but from the youtube reviews even the cheapest 9H lasts a year or so and these guys offer 5 years warranty.

Technically if your car isnt in too bad condition, wash with dishwash detergent, clay bar, paint cleaner to remove any leftover waxes/sealants and off you go. The application is really quite easy, and taking it off once it flashes is easy too, maybe easier than some waxes.
If you are one of those guys that isnt a car perfectionist I highly recommend doing it as it will make washing a breeze and protect the paint from bird poo and yes youll never wax again as its pointless…

    • Well you are covered by 100% money back guarantee… Why not give it a try?

Thanks for joining to inform the community about this awesome deal.

    • Not really an awesome deal, that's the retail price. US$90 for a 50ml bottle so A$120 is about right. Granted there's shipping costs but it's not A$200 a bottle.

I obviously failed to emphasise my sarcasm. I'll hand in my ozbargain license in the morning.

        • I'm sure there's a Udemy course by SirCasm to assist in your rehabilitation

      • 50ML for $120 is a bargain.

Step 1: Decant it into 50mL vials
        Step 2: ……
        Step 3: Profit!

I wonder whether you can use the principles of homeopathy to augment the effectiveness of each vial.

          50 MEGA LITRES

Looking for a deal on Olympic Swimming Pool to store it in.

This sounds to me like the seat protection that every dealer wants to add on to every sale for a car with leather seats!

No abn on website. Is that a posting requirement? I can't remember or find in wiki.

  • Fyi I used this on my car and motorcycle:

    https://m.ebay.com.au/itm/30ml-Car-Nano-Ceramic-Coating-Kit-…

Much cheaper and does the job. Plenty of YouTube videos about the effectiveness and application of this.

    • How long does it last ? I am pretty skeptical about it - but thats only because its no brand name and cheap asf.

      • +1

I highly doubt these will last as long as ccquartz and the likes.

        • Maybe not, but still going strong after 10 months.

Fyi my car is parked in the open fully exposed to the elements 99.9% of the time. The only exception is when I visit a Westfield with undercover parking.

          • @edrift: i beg to differ
            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxDI7qS2e3w&t=221s
Looks like Nu Finish still topping out for bang for your buck

            • @bogak: Yeah I have nothing to compare it to other than an ordinary wash and wax.

All I can say it that my sub $10 Chinese ceramic coating is still going strong after all this time.

It's easy to apply and for the minimal price I could apply it every 6-12 months if I wanted to

      • Only had my car about 10 months now and 10 months later the water still beads off nicely like it's been freshly waxed.

All this from a sub $10 bottle of magic

        • What kind of prep did you do ?

  • -1

So now it's $100 and you've nearly sold out.

What about all the people who purchased at $120, are they getting a refund?

  • OP had enough and gone for good. We should have a rule to discourage this kind of behaviour.

  • Can apply without paint correction, not really recommended.
50ml is enough for 2 cars 2 coats each, easy DIY job if you had a few hours.

  • Considering OP is gone and I wouldn't do this myself, let a professional car detailer handle this unless you like possible paint cobwebbing..

    1. Dont buy this product unless you have already detailed a few cars and have your own kit of RO/rotary and polishes. With any coating, it is only as good as the paint prep you did underneath it, coatings dont “fill” the imperfections. If you want fillers get a glaze such as poorboys blackhole (which only lasts a couple of weeks). If you dont apply and cure ceramic coatings properly you also risk making your car look like full of oily smudges!
    2. No way is it mohs 9 hardness lol. More likely 7-8.
    3. $200 original price is ridiculous. You can get a shop to do cquartz/opticoat pro at that price. You can also buy enough cquartz to do a sedan for around $50.

In summary, this is not a bargain or something the average car enthusiast should buy and DIY.

    • Interested to get Opticoat Pro or Pro+ at that price.
Can you suggest good shop/detailer around Sydney area?
