  • Is it 1000 "chinese" lumens or real scientific lumens?

    • Chinese lumens

      • So is the conversion done by squinting with the torch shining in your face?

I had a 1000 lumen torch from Banggood and it wasn't too far off a Nitecore 1000 lumen one. Maybe pot luck…

          Maybe pot luck

As with a lot of things, a lot of the time, higher prices just translates into higher consistency and higher reliability. It's not the parts that cost money really, it's the QA.

squinting with the torch shining in your face

…unsure if racist or just poor choice of words.

…am I racist for thinking it may be racist?

    • Chumens formula:

      Multiply price by 1 million.

  • Be aware the battery is an 18650 and not a AA and that and a suitable charger will cost you more than the torch. BTDT .. :-( .. !!

Chargers via USB cable as seen in the unboxing video posted above. Also mentioned in one of the reviews

USB charger is a very good feature

I have a few ‘xanes’ branded bike lights which I am very impressed with.

I don't really need yet another torch! Bought one…"sigh".

Pretty sure I have one of these (I have two Xanes torches that look a lot like this…one is identical).

Might automatically turn off if you leave it in high mode for too long, maybe to save the LED, or the battery, not sure.

Good torch…and amazing value at the price when you compare to name brands. It is not 1000 lumen though, no. If I had to guess, I’d peg it at somewhere between 200 and 500 based on the Serfas bike lights I’ve had (which I hear are close to spec). YMMV.

Did it come with a battery? This one says "Battery not included" and it's a pretty expensive battery that it uses…

      • Sorry about the necro-reply. I had to buy batteries for these. They are a lithium 18650, so there are cheap and expensive options (Banggood has a lot available). 18650's aren't all created equal. Some have protection circuitry…some are just plain cells. Sometimes the protection cells are slightly longer. I bought cells with "ICR18650-26J M SAMSUNG SDIEM TIP3"…not what they were actually labelled on Banggood's site, but they are protected cells. It was $22.39 for four of them at the time. I have a suitable charger for these, but the torch has USB charging anyway. The torch should fit longer cells since it has a couple of spring terminals inside (certainly fits the cells I bought).
