Please either spend the $100-200 extra for a decent laptop or get a much better specced refurb one from eBay off Gray's online (Lenovo etc)for the same price. This is a $400 paperweight.

    • I'm pretty sure this is more for a kid as their first laptop (they won't know the difference between slow or fast laptops, I don't think someone who is trying to buy a laptop to work/web browsing should be buying this.

      • They will when YouTube takes 5 mins to load or when attempting to read off the emmc card.

Lenovo Yoga 520 -14" Touch 2-in 1/4415U/8GB/128GB NVMe SSD is less than $400 after discount code. Other options also available.

    • Didn't even realize about refurbished ones existing for some reason hah, is this a better deal you reckon? http://www.graysonline.com/retail/80S9002YAU/computers-and-i… Lenovo $387

    1366x768 makes me angry

  • Not sure what you do with this CPU

    • Install Linux

  • Outside the topic. Can anyone recommend a decent Chromebook between $400 - $600? my high school children prefer to do their homework in Google doc rather than MS office now. Seems to be a trend now.

    • Would still be better to go windows anyway though, wouldn't it? Or is the google stuff Chromebook exclusive (I don't know, I use libre/MS)

  • Based on my observation and talking with my children and some (not all) teachers, they prefer Google doc because of a number of advantages.

    1. Immediate saving online.
    2. The document can be shared with teacher or peers
    3. Teacher makes comments and changes can be viewed online
    4. Completed homework can be submitted to the teacher in an organised order
    5. Accessible by any computer and tablets

Yes, all of the above can be done by Windows SharePoint or Google Drive and OneDrive. But the children I talked to say that it is so much easier with Chromebook. In addition, the Chromebook is so much lighter in weight at a comparable cost.

It is indeed my point of view.

IMO this price tag is very attractive than the Chromebook
