I certainly do mean COD! It does not look like a perfect replacement for PUBG, but it looks smooth and fun.
Its a completely different option to PUBG altogether as opposed to a replacement. I agree though, Oceania has been unplayable because of their bad queue design. The same problems exist in NA/SEA/AS/EU, but they have a population that compensates for it. PUBG's problems in Oceania are that each game mode (map, view, solo, duo, squad) gets a separate queue for each combination. That means you have a queue for:
Solo ALL TPP
Solo ALL FPP
Solo Sanhok TPP
Solo Sanhok FPP
Duo ALL TPP
Duo ALL FPP
Duo Sanhok TPP
Duo Sanhok FPP
Squad ALL TPP
Squad ALL FPP
Squad Sanhok TPP
Squad Sanhok FPP
There are many queues and the dumb thing is that the matchmaking system is such that if you say you want to play Solo any map, and the game picks Sanhok, you will be in a different queue to someone who explicitly chose to play solo Sanhok. So you end up in a situation where you are queue times 15m-1h+. So people in Oceania have given up and you can never get a game any more. At least that's my understanding of it all. Maybe someone else has a better explanation of Bluehole's terrible matchmaking system.
@Tardvark: If that is how it actually works, that is crazy! I would they would just drop TPP altogether.
Doesn't really solve the underlying issues, but I've noticed I get a significantly better ping response from the North American servers than Asian.
Interesting. I will give that a go. I think its ironic that we were all complaining about Asia using our servers and now we have to use theirs.
OC servers have been broken for months. Gave up on this game too.
Instead of working on optimizing the game the devs spent their time making mini skirts and silly hats. Pubg will end up being remembered like a fidget spinner.
I just don't understand how they stuffed up the OC servers so badly. The forums generally say that its a server population issue, although that may be the case now, its only gone that way because of the broken OC servers in the first place. Really disappointing.
Cheers. Probably giving this game up as soon as PUBG comes out, though. I cant even get a game on the Oceana servers anymore. I have to play in Asia with a shitty ping !
