  • wow good price, thank you! tempted, even though I won't need oil for some time now, but.. how often is it at such price? decisions decisions

    • It's regularly $99 delivered, so often $90 with 10% off coupons or the more elusive 15% ones bring it to the same price. They are the only retailer who do it at this price though, my opinion - buy and forget!

      • I think my car takes 7L of oil per change, by any chance would you know if I can mix this in with my Edge LL that I already have? I think I'm going to be left over with a bit from each.

        • Mine takes 7lt too - my gut feel would be this is fine given they are the same spec, but there's a heated discussion here about it. Some more cautious types say "why would you" while others claim to have done so with no ill effect.

You could probably grab the technical data sheet for the two brands just to compare, but I highly doubt there would be any issues.

        • @cyssero:

Thanks, maybe we've got the same car?! Haha.

How often do you oil changes? Is it recommended to do oil changes in-between services, eg. every 6 months/7500km?

        • @maybeamacy: Maybe we do 😉 Guessing yours is a 3.0 V6 TDI? I stick to 12 months or the necessary KMs, my understanding is unless you've got something burning super hot (e.g. big turbo) or drive in harsh conditions it shouldn't be necessary. I'd stick to recommendation especially if you're using the strictly certified oil, it's too expensive to cycle through 7lt of oil every 6 months!

        • @cyssero:

          Yep! Same engine! :)

I've read the timing chain tensioners can become loose on these as they age so was thinking of doing a 6 monthly service.
