It's worth a shot, but I've never had luck with interstate price matches.. Depends on the person you're served by I guess. And usually the policy states it has to be a local store.

Interesting the Belkin model# is not present, however, the DSE code of C6896 on the receipt corresponds. There is stock near me but I already have a similar one.

I assume that's about DSE as it refers to DSEs policy, and is in repsonse to someone mentioning purchasing at DSE.
No DSE policy says "Competitor must be in stock" and OP was responding to that.
There is something fishy here. DSE never pricematches if the item price is lower than the cost price shown on their screen. Possibly the OP knows this Michael guy.

Camberwell VIC has no stock. I think it's a superseded product.

Many places don't match interstate just so you know.
And DSE require a local place to have stock for them to match, I suggest going to OW and trying to get a deal

The ozbargain girl in front of me with her iphone 4 in hand, asked the target assistant for this charger. They both went to the locked glass window to have a look, the alarm went crazy haha, but none there. The iphone 4 girl then asked something else, couldn't quite hear but the target assistant pointed her to the clerance basket, none there either.

I just rang Target Northland (NOT to ask whether anyone who looks like Ashlea had been in there)
and asked the sound and vision guy Shane if they had any stock of code 48710282 in store. I didn't mention the product name, or the expected price. I was put on hold for a LONG time, and they guy came back online and said very hurridly "No we don't have any left!"
Am I the only one who thinks Shane might be a new owner of 5 or 6 of these things at 88c minus any employee discount?

Got the last one at Mt Gravatt QLD. Thanks OP! I rang the Mt Ommaney store and they had removed all their stock from the shelf… apparently because of a product recall from Belkin.
None at Target Glen Waverley (VIC) either. I think it's been superseded (only two items confirmed as found in Target so far) and probably a pricing error (Bit of a coincidence that the price is ~$89 in DSE and in Target as $0.88) ;-)
Congrats to the OP on the lucky find and getting a price match. I feel sorry for Michael at Greensborough though. Hope he got one too as it may be some consolation with so many people querying/trying to price match (Esp at other DSE stores), it's going to get back to them.
I can imagine it being featured in the next weekly or monthly DSE staff newsletter. Maybe a new rule, called the "Michael OzBargain rule".

Office works said they need to call the competitor to check and see if they have in stock and only if they have stock then they will price match ..

It wouldn't be a pricing error. When an item is being cleared out at Target the ending of the price is something like either .88 or .86 (you'll see this on a lot of price tags @ target) and it just keeps getting reduced further till it becomes something ridiculous like .88 cents. Recently the wee rides @ target went from $199 to $9.86 etc. And people have even gotten trampolines for $9.8x. A lot of mums know this to keep an eye out for toys @ Target so the '.88 or .86' is seen as a magic number.
So likely to be excluded by others price matching policies (if applied correctly by store staff) if it is being cleared out by Target.

Parramatta Target had a few and would not pricematch.
DSE Sydney City stores has a few, I even spoke to their manager and he said no it is a mistake and it will be fixed. Their marked price is $89. If anyone is good in winning business go to the York St, store they have a few.

Forest Hill Target had 3 which were priced at $89 on the shelf but scanned at $48.88, however, they would not price match.
Obviously target has rectified the pricing error.
I checked in DSE and Target Melbourne and both had but didnt match the price.
In Officework, they told that they dont price match with sale items and according to them this is a sale item.

So if anyone goes to OW be aware of that. IMO they HAVE to MATCH the price as they advertised.
