        ……
Now Neil at the bar is a friend of mine
He gets me my weed for free
And he's quick with a riff or to light up your spliff
But there's no place that he'd rather be
He says, "Scotty, I believe you are foundling me"
As the smile ran away from his face
"Well I'm sure that I could be a moderator
If I could get out of this place"
Oh, TWAM TWAM TWAM ti TWa TWa
Twam twam, ti TWa TWa TWa twam

    • Too much scotch tonight?

      • Lol. No, I don’t drink

  • +12

So max discount is 10%. Sneaky!

    • +2

yea and they have to be the exact same price, it really is only good if you spend a lot of money

      • Only difference max discount higher than the 10% deal.

        • +4

Face palm. No, it's the same. The maximum discount is 10% for both items. So it's a worse deal because it requires both items to be the same price to achieve 10% off.

        • @dotJaz:
It's better because the max dollar discount is $150 each, not 100. Assuming items same price

        • +3

          @dotJaz:

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/402762

10% off deal max discount $100:

          $2000 spend * 10% = max $100

          20% off deal:

          $1000 = $0 discount + $1000 * 20% = $200 discount

          How is it the same?

        • +1

          @Blu2:

True. I guess if you have exactly 2 (or 4) items over $1000 each to buy, then this could be a better deal.

        • +3

          @superforever:

          Yes, it's not the same.

No your calculation doesn't hold. If its 2x $1000, then just use 2 transactions with PLENTY10. $200 discount.

The only time it works better is when the second item is over $1000, and you have exactly 2 items to buy.

        • @dotJaz:

If you want to get the same max discount with the 10% deal as this one you have to use 3 transactions to get $300 but this one only need one.

But it is really depends what you want to buy.

eBay really wants us to use our brain before we buy :)

      • +1

So it is actually not as good as 10% off.

    • -1

It's 10% off and most likely twice as much.

  • Can I buy 2 items then return 1. Do I still get the discount.

    • Is it the seller will refund the full price?

    • you'll get refunded 1/2 of what you paid in the initial transaction.
I don't see the point of using this method instead of using PLENTY10 unless you're trying to take advantage of a higher cap.

      • As I remember it correctly seller will refund the price before the discount.

      • Well this person said you get 20% off still. Haven't tried it for myself yet though.

        • Hmm I'm not willing to try that out either. I don't have anything >$1k that I'm buying through ebay.

  • So if I plan to buy 10 bottles of congnac.
    Will this work?
Or better to have 5 accounts?

Or just use PLENTY10 several times?

    • $200 a bottle let’s say

      • Why would you do any of that? You can get 10% off up to 10 items and $1000 in one transaction.Use PLENTY10 twice gets you 10 bottles at $200 each and 10% off. This code only works when you have exactly 2 items and both of them costs over $1000.

        • Oh, I thought it was every consecutive duplicate gets 20%.

As 10 items could be purchased at once.

        • PLENTY10 is capped at $100?

  • +3

I believe a flat 10% deal would be much better than this.

    • +7

Not buying would be better than any discount.

      • +1

this is ozbargain for god sake. That’s like saying crack is bad for u to a crackhead, we can’t help ourselves!

  • +1

    Thanks TA

  • +2

This deal is not as good as PLENTY10 simply because it is more complicated. I'm just a simple man ;)

  • i know i know XS Max is the first thing that strikes you guys' mind!

    • +1

Buy two XS Max 512GB iPhones for $4738, and get only $300 off…

  • Maximum discount for this deal is 10% off.

  • -5

I've watched Ebay discounts pollute Ozbargain for quite some time now and while it's arguable if they're actually bargains at all I can say with certainty that this deal is not …….. yet it has 80 likes …..

    • +1

      84*

      • That's 84 Ozbargain users who care more about high-school groupie voting than actual bargains …. unless I'm wrong and that's 84 up-votes because those people just went and spent $2k and this code helped them.

        • +2

Vote positive if you feel the deal itself is good. This encourages the poster to share more deals as they know it's appreciated.

  • +1

It's an alternative to PLENTY10. If it fits your situation then it can be a better deal. No one is holding a gun to your head on any of these deals.

    Thanks TA.

    • An extremely specialised alternative maybe. Either way, it's not a deal on a specific item so should be added to the original thread as an alternative.

  • -3

Why all the votes for such a crap deal?

    Ozbargain are Ebay sheep

    • -1

You say this, yet you're still a loyal member of over 10 years?? 🙄

      • I'd say been a Ozbargain member for a decade gives Cyrax more credibility.

  • This deal is as silly as the buy one get the second item 50% off. It’s really only 25% off

    Item 1 $100
    Item 2 $100

    50% off item 2 = $50

    Total purchase $150

    Discount thus $50/$200 or 25%.

It just goes downhill from there if your items are not exactly the same price.

Just sounds like a bigger bargain using 50% off. Deception with intent to gain financial advantage for the retailer!

Still waiting for 19% off for 19th birthday!

    • +1

25% off is nothing to sneeze at if it's sitewide.

      • This Post called, they said they need you STAT!

  • +1

eBay must think our maths is as dumb as theirs.
This is less than 10% off each item unless you buy 2 identical priced ones.

  • STATS!!
Do you realise on the Deals page, 5/5 Top Deals are Ebay deals

And in the Front Page Deals list 6/15 are again Ebay deals.

    We're being swamped.

If you add Amazon, Groupon and Google, it nearly covers the lot.

  • I dont know if it's the AUD/USD but stuff is just so expensive!!!

Had my eyes on some home appliances that shot up $50 in price ;(

  • What kind of same items you want to buy more than 1 ? I can’t think of any that I want to …

  • +1

Well luckily for me then I can now buy my Ferrari guards $300 cheaper thanks guys
