FREE international delivery on Prime International orders over $49

Since it coming from Amazon US, free international delivery with Prime requires a minimum order of $49.

  • Are these actually 300MB sec?

    • +4

Nope. They're slow and they get very hot.
      (I have a 32gb and 64gb version)

      • +2

second that, they gets pretty hot..

        • Is that because plastic, the normal cover, is a poor conductor but metal isn’t? In other words, all dense SRAM dongles all are very hot internally.

    • I have the older version and I suspect the others do too. This one utilises usb 3.1 so might faster. Do some research.

      From an Amazon review:

      Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 224.198 MB/s
      Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 34.365 MB/s

Seems write speeds are just as poor as before, but read speeds are fast.

      • Shocking write speeds. Is it really that bad?

Enjoying the 60MBps write speeds on the Samsung EVO Plus micro SD cards. I figure micro SD are more flexible than USB drives these days.

        • Yep, that about matches my experience with a 64GB version of these.
My older (silver) 128GB sandisk extreme pro gets 130MB/sec or above write, cost a lot more at the time though.

  • Damm cant use my monopoly voucher

  • $7.45 postage. making it $46.57 shipped or you can buy more items to reach $49. or buy 2.

    • I'm getting $8.99 delivery?

      • strange, I just checked and I'm still getting $7.45

        Order Summary
        Items: $39.12
        Delivery: $7.45
        Order Total: $46.57
        Order Totals include GST.

        • May be it varies from location to location.
          For me $8.31 Delivery

Should you give credit to Mister Plod? Or did you find the deal yourself?

    Source: Here

    • +2

Actually, I did not see that deal/comment else would have given credit :) .. found it while I was looking at Pricehipster

  • Price match with Officeworks? It’s a site with a .au

    • May be.. give a try :)

    • Didn't they start matching imports anyway? There was an ozb post.

      • +3

Even if they did, they couldn't offer you anything since it seems Officeworks no longer sells the flash drive.

        • went to office works, they said they dont sell samsung flash drives anymore

  • +2

    any 10 dollar bargain?

  • looks liek a new design. Wonder if it's faster than previous gen, and if it gets as hot.

  • +2

What’s the issue with it getting hot? Pretty sure it means the case is drawing heat away from the circuit board, acting as a natural seatsink.
Never been an issue with mine.

    • +3

Nor any of mine and I have a few, albeit in smaller capacities (16/32G). Yes they do get warm but not stupidly so, probably 30C -ish

Several have been washed and tumble-dried too and all are still fine..

      • +6

I, too, wash my USB flash drives after formatting to make sure they are super clean :)

    • Issue is when you pull it out, it burns your hand.

PCBs can withstand more heat than that. A heatsink is unnecessary.

      • +1

No way it gets hot enough to hurt you.

        • Depends how long you had it in there for, what activity you were doing, and how long you waited before you ejected it.

For me it's uncomfortably hot. Not so hot that it activates my heat reflex, but hot enough that I don't want to touch it.

          Metal is a gimmick.

I'd estimate the temp to be about 60-70C after transferring a fair amount of data. The PCB should be able to handle 100. A heat sink is not necessary. Other USB sticks don't need one and do just fine.

        • @lostn:

          Metal is a gimmick.

Not for a key ring USB that you want to last.

        • @theguyrules:

          Fair enough.

What they could have done is use plastic with a metal coating around it.

I don't put it on my keyring because I don't want dust getting in the contacts (there is no cap), or it getting damaged. And if I lose my keys.. that would be bad. So for my purposes, metal is a gimmick. I keep it in safer places than keyring.

Is there a way to search Amazon for items that are from Prime International? As normal Amazon stock doesn't help take me to the $49 minimum for free shipping.

  • Thanks guys. Ordered that and basically a 'free' corsair mouse pad.

This is the product I bought to get the free shipping: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0722JC9PJ
