  • I'm using 10,000mah power bank. It's light and charges fast. Very happy with cygnett. If I had a laptop I would get get 20,000

  • Can these be taken on international flights?

    • Yes.

      • Cheers, so I take it that this one’s below the 100Wh limit? Don’t want to spend money and have it be useless.

        • 26800mAh is fine for 100Wh limit, so this is well under.. I'm not sure if there's any countries that require less than 100Wh though, in which case you potentially wouldn't be able to use it on those flights

Only place I've travelled to that had restrictions was China. Some of their airports only allowed 10000mAh max.

The requirements for bringing a Power Bank on planes are:

      • They need to be stored in your carry-on baggage
      • They must not exceed 100Wh (Watt Hours)

      To calculate Wh:

      • (mAh)/1000 x (V) = (Wh)

      This Power Bank

      • (20000mAh)/1000 x (3.7V) = 74Wh

Therefore you should be able to travel on plane with this Power Bank, as long as you keep it in your carry-on baggage.

  • FYI- am not getting option for Pickup from eBay somehow

Look like no pickup option on TGG eBay store for this item.

    • Yeah thanks for confirming. I think getting it delivered & with Cashback is more convenient than going to TGG unless it's next door :)

  • I see plenty of 20,000 mAh power banks under $50 - why is this a bargain?

      This one does PD

This Cygnett is a USB-PD power bank with 45W output on the USB-C making it suitable to charge laptops and Macbooks quickly. While the RAVPower 26800mAh only has a USB-C port at 15W. The RAVPower 22000mAh only has 3 standard USB ports with no USB-C so that can't even be compared.

      • +1

Not wanting to be pedantic, but I think you actually just did compare them. Have an upvote for your effort.

        • Technically yes :P

  • Is there any way to use this to charge a laptop with a normal 3 pin power outlet cable? I lug a massive 17” laptop that sucks the battery dry in about 2 1/2 hours.

    • Highly unlikely, as most 17"+ laptop requires >45W output for charging.

      • Ok thanks.

  • Is Cygnett a good brand? How would this compare (in terms of quality/safety) to a Xiaomi?

  • +1

I have a pile of Cygnett power banks, all of which I no longer use because they all fell well below 50% of their capacity after no more than about ten charges. Maybe its bad luck, but I don't trust this brand.

    • +1

Some people don't know this but a 20000mAh power bank won't charge a 2000mAh phone 20 times. The phone and power bank have their mAh measured in different volts.

      • +1

I'm well aware, but thanks anyway. I use powerbanks in bulk and Cygnett is by far the worst brand I've used.

        • +1

Was just making sure. I haven't actually used their power banks before. I'd be curious to see what brand of cells they use.

  • +1

I bought this one to power my macbook on the go. Works well and the build is solid, feels good on the hands :)

  • PSA:

I was very happy with this until it came to charging the power bank itself; it wouldn't charge with 3 different USB-C wall adapters!

These weren't cheap random wall adapters either, they were 1) purchased from the google store 2) came with pixel 1 XL 3) came with pixel 2 XL.

Called Cygnett and they were very evasive and tried to skirt the issue and blame google or some "incompatibility." Initially their product manager said that "in his experience there were some issues sometimes" then later he said Cygnett had done internal testing and confirmed it was a known problem!

    They then confirmed by email:
*Cygnett testing has confirmed that the ChargeUp Pro 20k is unable to be charged by the Google 18W USB-C PD charger or the Google 15W USB-C charger
*It is not currently known what the cause of this issue is
*It is unknown whether future versions of this product will fix this issue

    Hope this helps someone.
